Yep. The contents of this room must be pretty breathtaking in person. I see that the T. rex is the ubiquitous 'Stan'! (Although it's one of the best mounts of 'him' that I've seen!)

Yes, it is a real cool place to see almost every major theropod skeleton (casts). It really is quite a mindblowing little museum.I
Yes those are a set of Deinocheirus arms (cast) on display, never had seen those except in photos so it was cool to see in person how big they are- That T.Rex is in fact a cast of Stan.It must have been fun to order all of the casts when they were setting up this museum. I know that they had quite the time getting them all installed into the hall. Back in 2006 I worked on a Rush Studios cast Dilophosaurus life size model that they will eventually put out front on the lawn near their sign. The paleontologist I worked with on that project did not like the fact that the Dilo had lips as it was originally sculpted under the direction of Gregory Paul. He had me grind off the lips and resculpt the mouth a bit on the cast prior to finishing it. Took some doing to accomplish. They had the Dilo on display in the lobby, but last I heard it was in storage until they put it outside, which is planned this year I believe- I had to cast most of the colors into the piece and use colored polyesters to put the top colors onto the piece so it would be weatherproof- I will post photos of that piece here soon.

Sweet ! You know I love my 1/1 Dinos ! ;D I'm afraid to ask..but how much did he cost ?
Dilos have such long teeth..how did you sculpt lips to cover them ? I imagine it would be almost as difficult;t as trying the same with a Ceratosaurus.

I imagine it would be almost as difficult;t as trying the same with a Ceratosaurus. I didnt have to sculpt the lips, I had to remove lips . If you were to see the Rush Dilo head( there is one posted on my thread 'Prehistoric Models'-in fact that image is of the sample head I made to get client approval for the color scheme they wanted) there are subtle lips, although you still see the teeth. I had to grind back the lips to make the mouth more croc like. I dont 'kiss and tell' with museum clients and how much they paid for something commercial. If its a personal piece thats another story. I dont know if that makes sense.

You didn't have to sculpt them in the first place ?
I completely understand. So... " What would you charge for a 1/1 Dilophosaurus ? " lol Feel free to PM me..I'm just always curious if I can my claws a 1/1 Dinosaur... ;D

A wee bit blurry for sure, but wow....juvenile Ceratosaurus, Suchomimus and more. This might be my favourite assemblage of mounted dinosaurs in the world. (I do have a thing for theropods...to the point that, since learning that birds are theropods, I've become a bit of a bird watcher)

Suchomimus ! ;D
Why are the bones two different tones ? I haven't seen many skeletal reconstructions I'll remind you..but most of them have been all one color.. brown or black..maybe grey. Is it to differentiate between the found bones and the filler maybe ?

(I do have a thing for theropods...to the point that, since learning that birds are theropods, I've become a bit of a bird watcher) Yeah, the photos are blurry, next time I am up there I will try to take some better photos. I also really like this assemblage of mounts a lot. Dan Joyce did a great job of putting together this museum. He had been the head curator at the original natural history museum that was originally housed in this old post office building. The mayor of Kenosha decided he wanted a museum campus on the lake like Chicago has, so he put Dan in charge of building the new natural history museum, then Dan had to simultaneously put together this museum in the old building, while at the same time building a third museum building to house a Civil War Museum. All this while digging for mammoths on local farmland. Dan is a paleontologist who had dug up a mammoth, found on a local farm, that showed evidence of tool marks on the bones proving that man had been in the area thousands of years earlier than had previously been thought. I should post photos of the natural history museum, there is some real cool stuff there too, including life size mammoths, and a life size dunkleostus swimming overhead. I was fortunate enough to have done work for all three of the Kenosha museums, they are real good people there.

I was up in Kenosha again today- This is a list of the critters (in no particular order) that this museum has casts of ,either a skeletal mount or a fossil slab- -Torvosaurus -Acrocanthosaurus -Allosaurus -Sinosauropteryx -Compsognathus -Deinocheirus -Gallimimus -Caudipteryx -Caenagnatoid -T. Rex -Dromaesaurid -Archaeopterix -Hesperornis -Eoraptor -Gansus -Herreresaurus -Coelophysis -Carnotaurus -Ceratosaurus
They also have a few modern bird skeletons on display- for example eagle, pidgeon-to show the relationship between these and the fossils-
Once again if you are ever in the Milwaukee/ Chicago area it is worth the diversion trip to Kenosha to visit this museum and the Natural History museum as well. There is also a real nice Civil War museum if that interests you.
