I was searching eBay for realistic fish toys (such as those made by Kaiyodo, Colorata, etc) when I stumbled across a really cool product line from a new company called Replica Toy Fish. This company specializes in North American freshwater fish toys. Specifically, I was searching for an Alligator Gar toy...They have one!!! It's the only one I've ever seen. So I've ordered an Alligator Gar and a Longnose Gar. I'll be sure to post photos when they arrive. The link to the website is www.replicatoyfish.com/. The also make sales on eBay under the name toyfishcompany. stores.ebay.com/toyfishcompanyThe prices are very reasonable. In case you were curious, I'm in no way affiliated with the company. I just think it's pretty cool. They have a really neat story about how and why they started the company. Check it out! I'm also attaching a list of new items coming out in the summer. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these fish in plastic form! ;D Attachments:

Not affiliated eh? A bit suspicious. But I believe that I've seen those figures on here before, and they are quite nice.

We've known about those here for almost a year now!
I've got the whole set as it is--I have been a huge booster of Simeon's efforts, and am hoping at some point to get some of the fish into our store (mostly the sturgeon, gars, and local fish). I'm disappointed that I do not see bowfin on this list, as Simeon has mentioned them several times.
I hope that this means he has found a good distribution channel--and that he will eventually succeed in bringing out some fossil fish.
And you won't see a piranha ever--they aren't north american (unless you count introduced species, in which case let the snakedheads roll!).

Yeah, I second the bowfin and snakehead.
I'm glad there's some awareness of this product out there. I don't know why I've been oblivious to the line for so long, but I'm very excited to have discovered Simeon's company.
I'm looking forward to seeing the line expand.

Oh...definitely not affiliated, but I really like Simeon's reasons for starting the company. His story about removing the hooks off of fishing lures so his son could have a toy pike reminds me off my dad doing the same for me when I was a kid. There just aren't many options out there for freshwater fish toys.

Yay, at least it's great to see that there will be new models in August. I have all of the existing ones, too and I can't wait for the others! EDIT: Watch this, in the "Wall Photos" there are some of the new models and there is a bowfin, actually : www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=179531995419498

I am guessing this mainly because the existing shovelnose sturgeon is in a photo with another sturgeon and a paddlefish, which is awesome (and wasn't listed). It's too bad the new figures are coming out so late in summer--the peak time for this kind of thing would be starting...well, now actually.
