Ouch. (Kentrosaurus there?)
One thing: the impaled ceratosaur has a pronated forearm/hand. Unless the stegosaur broke his arm too!

Mosasaurs...I always just use a monitor lizard for reference. They are fairly flexible. I'm sure there are videos of them swimming on youtube or something. So think that only more gracefull I suppose.
The ceratosaur on the top probably couldn't bend its neck like that. Also feel free to make the teeth on ceratosaurus longer. The teeth on those things were GIGANTIC. Look at a photo of a skull for reference.

Its Dacentrurus armatus. A scene of Late Jurassic Europe. The right hand was meant to be slightly facing the left, but then I changed the arm position and now seems pronated. I guess I´ll do something about it. Anyway the cerato did hit the ground quite hard, so it could be broken too! You´re right Griffin! Ive checked some skulls and the teeth are way bigger than I thought. Fine for me. ;D I followed the carcharo model for the teeth because I remember very little about their anathomy, and mostly of outdated art.

Reminds me of someone else's similar concept... quite flattering.. ;D Ceratosaurus is really a standout theropod in terms of looks...instantly recognizable. I have to lament the lack of good collectibles of him again...

Yes! Ceratosaurs has always been one of my favourite theropods since I was a kid. But I think most people view them sort of like the "Jurassic Hyaenas", with all the negative connotations in the pop culture, mainly because they shared the environment with Allosaurus, which always has been considered the Jurassic lions. Quite a shame if you ask me. First correction made and test colour scheme. Thoughts? ;D And an update on Torvosaurus!

Ceratosaurs were prob the bigger predators at some point..but Allosaurs came along and took over that nitch to an extent. Ceratosaurus was def still a large top of the food chain predator though. Nothing negative about a hyena really..they have their place and can be quite vicious in their own right. I actually like them..it was prob the portrayal of them in the Lion King that made them seem so..unworthy..of admiration.
I like the leopard spots on the Ceratos..the Dacentrus just needs more depth..he/she still has a lot of white. Did this scene just happen or has been a pause after the attack ? I would expect a little gore on the impaled Cerato's face and maybe the ground if the time elapsed was long enough. The stegosaur I would think would have a few scrapes or cuts as well..I wouldn't thik it would be totally unscathed.

It is totally unscathed ! thats what all those big spikes are meant for! ;D The cerato just got too close without the backup of his partner and got what he deserved. This happens just a few seconds after he gets gored, hits the ground and starts crying in pain. Dacentrurus doesnt even started trying to unpin the tail. The partner is completely astonished (the picture is too small to notice the expression ) and is thinking about leaving him there. About the colours, it still needs lot of work. Im thinking of adding more blood to the cerato jaw and maybe a bloodstained eye. Tonight I was specially bored. In a few minutes I´ll show you something new.

The Pelicanimimus looks great !
The Masaiakasaurus looks like across between a JP Raptor and a alien of some sort..lol Odd thing is that's prob pretty close to how it actually looked ! Someone call a dentist quick it's an emergency ! ;D

I like how you are doing scale patterns on them now. Looks cool.
Again with the twisted leg! This time on Masiakosaurus. I'm almost positive they physically couldn't bend like that. Think of a bird's leg.

Its a back view, not a profile...so the legs are meant to be like that. Actually, maybe the left foot is the one a bit wrong, not enough twisted to the right. And the tail doesnt have the proper angle now that I notice it, so it seems a bit like a profile.
And yeah I finally gave up on the full scaled body style! ;D It actually looks nicer now though it takes less time and work... I´d only use it again in close shots or small animals.
By the way, I just readed about a recent discovery on Pelecanimimus skin impression . It apparently didnt had feathers, hair or even scales. What was initially thought to be proto feathers is just... wrinkles of a naked skin! Apparently the animal had just smooth skin...I guess you might have heard about it, is this research reliable?

If its supposed to be a view from behind then the rest of the body isn't angled enough. Perspective is a pain when drawing.
Never heard of it but it sounds believable to me. Plenty of birds have naked skin on parts of their bodies. Just check out an ostrich's leg. How big of a skin impression was this?

Apparently most of the body! the hair like structures were found all along the neck, the arm and other parts of the body, and those turns out to be just fossilized wrinkled skin. That means he was like a plucked bird, not even barely feathered. dml.cmnh.org/1997Jun/msg00361.htmlI just saw this is from 1997. I dont know if experts have come to a conclusion since then, but I reckon the debate has moved on a little...

You have done some really nice sketches here, Ari! Looking forward to a real finished scene with plants, mountains etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would buy a print! ;D Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your sketches, the Cerato/Stego is my favorite so far.

About the Masiakasaurus picture, Griffin, its not a complete behind view. The perspective is something like this: Uploaded with ImageShack.usBut I think it would be easier to just bend the right leg and make a full profile than get this right..... You have done some really nice sketches here, Ari! Looking forward to a real finished scene with plants, mountains etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would buy a print! ;D Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your sketches, the Cerato/Stego is my favorite so far. Thank you! unfortunetaly I´m totally unskilled making backgrounds, with trees, rocks and stuff. The best I can achieve so far is what you have seen in the Torvosaur and mosasaur pictures: cheap effects done with Photoshop brushes. I might start practicing with some real background stuff quite soon, but drawing something outside of prehistoric critters and Sci Fi creatures /characters bores me to death, lol. And speaking of which I worked a little on the Pelecanimimus, I can´t imagine them without feathers now!
