Thanks again! I'm experimenting with fighting male Hadrosaurs. I mean, they did do more than eat, poo and fall over from fear at the mere sight of a predator, right? ;D Hmmm, some of my pet peeves with the potrayal of my beloved hadrosaurs are showing... They still need a lot of touch up. We'll see how this works. I'll have a couple more of these guys in more neutral poses. Best, Angie

The hind leg on the one looks a little stiff, but it's good otherwise I think.
Has there ever been a scene with fighting hadrosaurs done before? Either in 2d or 3d.

haha! ;D
Yeah, your're right on the stiff leg. It needs to be flexed a bit toward the other dino. Like he's being thrown off balance or kicking or something. I'll fix that up and the whole thing needs to be touched up, wrinkles moved, things smoothed a bit.
This is just a rough draft almost. But its good you think it works. I don't think I've ever seen fighting hadrosaurus before done in 2d/3d. Not sure. then again I don't think I've seen many animals portrayed fighting eachother unless it is predator/prey stuff.
Dominant males fight all the time within their herds so I think it would be a nice take to see more of it by artists.
I'll fix these guys up tomorrow.

This one is a bit better. I flexed the leg more to a kicking (or falling backward) position. I've still got more work to do. This one's got a lot going on. I'll have more updates soon

I might have missed it..but have you done any full cg art pieces using your dinosaurs like this ? Seems a natural extension of creating the model to me.

This would be a fun piece to paint! LOL There is one other activity they can do, but I don't think you would want to show that in a model. ;D

I'll have more updates soon Please forgive my presumption, Angie ( ), but merely from one artist to another: do you think perhaps tilting that right foot downwards slightly might lend it more naturalism and lessen any appearance of stiffness even further? Please feel entirely free to ignore me, of course.

How can one ignore you - posting such a beautiful drawing? ;D

That is a nice drawing. It makes me think of a Leonardo anatomy drawing. I agree that the foot needs changed. It will look more like an animal off balance as opposed to a falling static figure.

We can all learn from eachother and I like the feeling of being in a group that helps eachother improve. I really, really appreciate your help and drawing! BTW, it is a beautiful drawing! You should be showing that off. I should say to other artists you are more than welcome to use my sculpts to help you with your drawings and paintings. I do not mind sharing them and if you can find some use from them, go for it! So, many thanks again for your help and ideas from everyone. I hate the feeling of something being off, but I stare at the thing for so long it helps when others can look at it with a fresh eye. When I get to the Ceratopsians I'll probably be asking for help from you guys too, lol! You guys are the BEST! ;D I'll be fixing his foot today with your suggestions.

Not yet, unless you count "Reign of the Dinosaurs"...although I think the name may have been changed. Sigh. I tend to only be good at modeling and texture painting, but I would like to try and get my dinosaurs comped into a landscape. Grass is a major pain in the rear when trying to get some nice backgrounds... I'll have to try it though

Really ? I think that is what they are calling it at SDCC..even David mentioned it by that name recently. If it's changed I hope it sounds just as cool.. ;D Swamps and rivers might be good places to start...have you talked with Vlad Konstantinov ? He does some really beautiful full cg images for a hadrosaur related example :

Nothing is concrete until the thing actually airs. Its actually been making me anxious for over a year, lol. I worked so hard on it (along with everyone else) I want it to be so good! Makes me *stressed*, lol. If any of you are heading to CC let me know how it goes. Vlad is amazing. Worked with him some on RotD. We're friends on the good ole' Facebook (speaking of, I'll have to find you guys if I haven't already!) so I get to see his stuff (although I haven't seen this one!!!) I'll have to see if he has tips. I haven't left the realm of modeling and texuring since thats my focus of specialty. But I should really try it.

You worked on Reign also? Good God that show might get me excited like the original Walking With did! lol, yeah. Worked on it for over a year. I got to model lots of dinosaurs and texture paint a lot of them and I got to do color concept design for the dinosaurs along with ricardo delgado. Basically, its like the most incredible experience I've ever had and I hope more than anything i get to do it again. Krentz is the nicest guy in the world and I had a great time working with him and learning a ton from him. Scott H really helped me to. And there is no feeling greater than seeing a dinosaur you sweated over modeling and painting working 15 hour days to get it done coming to life after animation and rendering. I think my first dino I saw walk into camera I about jumped out of my skin, lol! It was a great ride. It just makes me so nervous and anxious. I want it to look good and everything. Its my baby ;D I'm glad you are excited though. I can't wait either!!!

Things like this just happen though. Maybe it will change back. I'm extremely partial to the name RotD. I think it fits what the show is about much better. But, whatever I guess. As long as the dinosaurs are looking good Yeah, let me know how they liked CC. I don't know if stuff can be leaked. I'm almost sure they comfiscate cameras and make you sign NDA. I could be wrong though. I guess we'll have to see! Ah, OK, now I place you. Hard to keep up with everyone's online usernames, lol! I checked out Vlads page and yeah, he's got some great shots of that Cory. Wonderful job. ;D ;D ;D

Update for these fighting duckbills Tried to fix the foot as suggested from my friend here Thank you! Its much better I think. Its getting there, still going to touch up things here and there. This was a challenging piece! If SW has a problem with this one I'll freak out, lol. Actually, I'm thinking of modeling a little mammal scurring out of the way. Any suggestions on a mammal around at the time of these guys? Anyway, here they are so far...

If you type "zebras fighting" or "zebras duelling" into a yahoo image search, you may get some good ideas. There was an awesome picture on the cover of one of my kid's nature magazines of two zebs going at it - brutal! 'Course, can't find it now...
