Oh, no, I wasn't sighing about Shapeways! I'm extremely patient, so waiting is no problem -- and it will be kinder for my pocket, too. No, I was sighing at the loveliness of your Tuojiangosaurus painting!

Oh, no, I wasn't sighing about Shapeways! I'm extremely patient, so waiting is no problem -- and it will be kinder for my pocket, too. No, I was sighing at the loveliness of your Tuojiangosaurus painting! Awe, thank you I'm so glad you like it!!! And thanks to the rest of you. I'm happy to see that everyone seems to like the style. I'm going to paint more now! Thank you I got a response from SW. It looks like 2 of my models went thru the printer, but should not have been printed as they have holes in them They are sending the models to me anyway so I can see the issue and giving me a coupon to use next time around. They tried looking at the file to see the problem but there are to many errors. Whats so weird is they are all basically the same model. The Lambeos are made from the Oloros, etc. So it has to be the hollowing screwing up somewhere. This is why SW is hard to do and why I try and check the models first. The models cleared every step in the process, but should not have. But it seems as if the others may be alright. I also order the small ones, but I'm just assuming they would be the ones to have the most issues and the big ones should print easier. I'll post pictures of them when I get them to you guys can see them. I got them in WD. Sigh. Hollowing is a PAIN in the ARSE. Someone needs to come up with a sure fire way to do it. As in Zbrush needs a button that says "hollow model", lol! I'm still working on a general hollowing tutorial. Obviously still not full proof, but I'll try.

EDIT!! hi Angie, i have recently had the same problem as you. Sometimes the issue can be solved in a simple way (unfortunately other times cant). You need to open the model with netfabb studio. The model may have problems when a WARNING symbol appears by the name of the file. On the right upper corner there is a button with a red medic cross. you push it and then push "automatic repair". Then push "apply repair". If the fixed model doesnt keep with the WARNING symbol, the model is ok to print it now. You can do this process with the model before hollow in order to see if the errors appear on the hollowing process. If the model has the WARNING symbol before following process you can fix it and then hollow it which reduces errors a lot.

Wow, thank you! I've never heard of the netfabb studio. I've been rechecking models with Meshlab and then just hoping SW tells me if it is printable. I'm going to check this out. I'm almost sure it is just a problem of the shell sticking through the model somewhere and it didn't catch it (I didn't either).
Only 2 of the 5 models I ordered have the problem. They are sending them to me for free anyway so I can see the problem. So at least 3 of the models will be available for sale soon. I'll fix the others and re-order them along with all the Cory;s, etc. to check them.
THANK YOU! for your help. I still have my hollowing tutorial, but I may edit it once I try and deal with this problem and try what you suggested. Maybe all of us can figure this thing out together, lol!!!
Once I get my models I will post pics of them ;D Thanks again Raz!

Alright, my models finally arrived to my home. They are shipping from their NYC branch so for those of you in the USA it will be much faster once they are shipped. Soooo, I have made 2 models now available. 2 of the male Lambeo m. are fine and actually look really nice!!! The Lambeo that is eating has a hole in it that needs to be fixed, same with the female. I'm pretty sure this is a matter of me having to make the shell smaller. This will bring the price up as the hollowed part is smaller, but its better than having holes in the figure! I need to fix these and re-check the Oloros as I didn't order all of them. I may have fudged just a bit on the size of the models to reduce price. Can someone please look at the sizes (they are listed on the right hand side) and see if these are acceptable? I'd really appreciate this! OK, if you guys get these I would love to see them when you get them. If you have them painted or paint them yourself I'll be looking in that SW thread. I may ask to use them on my SW page ;D So...2 new models are up for sale. Now I get to go thru and fix and recheck everything on the others. SO far though, I'm happy with how they look www.shapeways.com/hisdesign?user_id=28793Angie

Angie
Are you able to print Ultra fine when the figures are over 6 inches? I tried my 1:72 Giganotosaurus at 7 inches ( I think) and I did not get that material option.
I'm still 2 weeks overdue for about 6 models. Shapeways is backed up I think. d**n Hadrosaurs are crapping in the machines. Freakin' cows.

It is there on mine on a model that is 6.9 inches. I don't see anything that says ultra fine though, so not sure if you are talking about something else? I was overdue on models for 2 days when I emailed them. It turned out they had sent me an email that ended up in my spam folder saying they were sorry and shouldn't have printed some of my models as they had holes. Once I told them OK send it to me they shipped me all the models within 2 days and gave me a coupon for the damaged ones. If you haven't already try emailing them to see what the hold up is. On their blog they have a list of the materials they are behind on and how long it is taking. So maybe you ordered one of those Oh, yeah. The machines will be full of Hadrosaurs ;D Safety in numbers from all your things with pointy teeth

Phantastic! These will be in my next shapeways order! BTW Angie & David, I wouldn't be surprized if you don't get an option for FUD in the largest of your models, the bounding box size for that material is 127 * 178 * 152mm.

Oh, I wish my krentz white detail order would hurry an get here! I need to decide if I like it better than black before I order anything else. When I was a kid, the lambeo was my most absolute favorite dino for several years.

Some people have ordered a couple of them and the larger ones are having wall thickness issues and got rejected. Why I can not fathom as they printed fine in the small version. Unless it is the material. I'm going to go through my models and re-check the shells. I may just need to make them smaller which will bring the price up, but there isn't much I can do I think I'm also going to limit the materials to the details and the WSF to just avoid tons of issues. If only prices were cheap for these materials and the models could just be solid. I would have the entire prehistoric world sculpted and ordered by now, lol! Sorry for any problems, I'll fix it and I will ask SW to check it to make SURE it is printable this time. Small ones are still up though as I have them and they look fine. I have them in WHite Detail. Big ones will be up again asap.

Yes, I'm always confused by what prints and what doesn't. Especially when you are holding a version that has already printed in your hand and they tell you it's not printable. Hollowing is a pain, and I too would have tons of dinos available if I didnt have to do it. On average, after I create a model I wait for at least a month until the kinks are all worked out and it's in my hands. I'm really happy with Shapeways as a service, but the company is still growing. They DO listen to customers and creators though and really do want to make things as good as possible. I can't wait to see where 3D printing will be in even a year from now!
