Good day all,
While I've never been very fasincated by sauropods because of the pretty much similar overall design, I've found myself become fascinated with sauropods that have a bit more than usual.
For example Saltasaurus (body armor), Shunosaurus (tail club), Armagasaurus (spines) and so on.
I already have the Carnegie Armagasaurus and Saltasaurus. Does anyone have a suggestion for other candidates that roughly scale to 1:40?
Two I've been considering are the CollectA Augustinia and Rabbachisaurus, but strangely I couldn't find a review on the toy forum. Anyone have personal opinions of these? I find that the CollectA models sometimes look too cartoonish and deviate from realism a bit too much for my liking.
Thanks!

The Battat Amargasaurus is in 1/40 scale. Acquiring it though, is easier said than done.

The deluxe Collecta Augustinia is...well, certainly very interesting. If you overlook the head..

CollectA has a lot of weird sauropods. Some are terrible and some are awesome.

Getting that Sideshow T vs T was the last time I'd ever go on a hunt like that! It's fortunate that at least, I have the Carnegie one, so it's a consolation prize for me.

Thanks, I have that Nigersaurus. I don't think he's 1:40 scale though :-(

The deluxe Collecta Augustinia is...well, certainly very interesting. If you overlook the head.. Yeah, there are some nice figures out there, but with one or two fatal flaws. At this stage of my collecting, I have to be really selective as I am running out of space (no thanks to Hot Toys as well) so have opted to choose those which are anatomically accurate as I've started studying anatomy in some detail now.

That one I'm trying to get, because it's anatomically quite accurate and that's what I am shooting for right now. I'm learning anatomy at the moment, so I like figures of which features I am able to point out. However the shipping doesn't help... I'm hoping on a guy from Hong Kong though! I like the colour plus the 1:35 scale puts it close enough to 1:40. I'll just say he was a statistical outlier specimen... after all my Liopleurodon and Kronosaurus set the precedent!

The Schleich Saltasaurus looks great. Do you know the scale? It just says 15cm high. I also have the Carnegie one as well. As for Galileo's Shunosaurus it looks exactly like what I need. Love the detailing, love the proportions. Unfortunately it's going to be expensive in and of itself. Then, shipping it to get someone to paint it, and then shipping it again to me... it would bankrupt me :-(

Thanks, Spinorophosaurus would have fit the bill exactly! Except that I felt the tail spines a bit short... and what is that desert landscape skin texture? I'm behind on my reading... was there an unusual skin impression found that indicated this?

Wow I want this guy! What is the scale, any ideas? The foot shape seals the deal for me!

I don't like to backseat mod, but please keep all your replies into one post instead of posting consecutively multiple times. Also, if you're studying anatomy, you should know that the hips on the Carnegie Saltasaurus aren't quite wide enough. And that many sauropod figures get the hands wrong.

Wow I want this guy! What is the scale, any ideas? The foot shape seals the deal for me! Ah, good luck with you search for 1:40 scale unusual sauropodies ;D The scale alone limits your options to just a very few models Considering that unusual sauropods are rare in the toy world, it is worth considering the smaller scale ones, like the medium sized ones (Safari Amarga size). Seen together, they make a very striking display I would say that the most unusual sauropod to date is the Augustinia. And CollectA has two size, a small and a large (1:40?) one. And I agree, the large one is great... if you can get over the head. I hope that they will revise the head in the near future
