I didn't particularly like the 'story' (The ghost of Cuvier tells a girl all about marine reptiles, in chronological order from Triassic to Cretaceous. Plus intermittent lectures from modern palaeontologists). Having actors play the modern palaeontologists was also just odd for me, but the models and 3D were generally good.

The ghost of Cuvier? How strange...
As for actors playing palaeontologists, well...at least they didn't bring in any of the 'usual suspects', I suppose...

Nah, the usual palaeontology talking heads. Although, it being a show about marine reptiles rather than dinosaurs, they might not have gone for them.

I don't know, I rather like the ghost of Cuvier idea... But perhaps it didn't work; I'd need to see it.

I have to wonder, why Cuvier? The only prominent connection to marine reptiles he had, in my mind at least, was declaring Plesiosaurus to be a fake. Mary Anning would have made more sense, given her discoveries of marine reptiles. She also could have been used to say 'See girls, palaeontology isn't a total sausage-fest!'.

The ghost gimmick didn't work at all, it just made it seem silly. I liked the reptiles otherwise, honestly, I disliked the film a lot. It's showing at the omnimax at OMSI right now.

I just read a few reviews of this film online. I picked out some memorable comments:
"[There are] awkwardly staged scenes in which a contemporary teenager whose lips don't match her words converses with an 18th-century gentleman whose sideburns don't match his hair."
"“Holy [expletive], guys,” he may have said in his native French, “that's a big-ass lizard.”"
"The music director clearly felt he had a stroke of insight when he realized that if a Liopleurodon could live his life to one song, it would definitely be “Orinoco Flow.” [by Enya]"
"this sea monster flick stayed in the shallow end and still managed to drown in its own potential."
