Yet another Dinosaur TV project, and it looks like Krentz is involved. I'm sure most of you are already aware of this.
There is some footage from comicon here: dsc.discovery.com/videos/dinosaur-revolution-new-series-premiere.html
I wanted to talk about this show and the confusion I get from watching the footage. After seeing the initial trailer I thought it was going to be a highly realistic documentary-style show like WWD with the most scientifically up-to-date dinos yet. That's what it is...kinda. Unlike most dino documentaries, though, it often veers into cartoony territory. One clip about some pterodactyls is a remake of a looney tunes short. Another clip shows a sauropod getting stoned of some prehistoric magic mushrooms for reasons I cannot explain. These clips are hilarious at times, and normally I would be like, "okay, so the show is for younger people. That's cool," but they've also included some ultraviolence as you can see in the clip of the T-rex fight where one of the dinos gets his arm torn off and eaten in a shocking display of gore. So, basically, I don't know who this show is made for.
On the positive side, the visual effects are utterly fantastic and may be the absolute best of any CG dinosaur show. Every creature seem to be scientifically accurate and beautifully designed. The animals are adorned with vibrant colors and other striking features. Overall, the show LOOKS absolutely stunning.
I can't wait to see it Sunday and I'm hoping for less goofiness and more awe-inducing realism.
