Hey folks!
I know I'm pretty new, and from what I've read so far, I'm probably wasting my breath, but other than E-bay, can anyone suggest anywhere else I can get these figures? I know I should suffer for having so foolishly given mine away, but honestly, I think that winds up being inimical to paying $50 for what are essentially $5 figures, (which I am unfortunately willing to do)... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get these back...
I would certainly appreciate any advice from folks who have been in the game longer than I have...
Thanks!

eBay is probably going to be your best bet, or perhaps members here who want to sell theirs. The best thing you can do is watch for lot sales on eBay. Sometimes someone will put up a large lot of dinosaurs for a low price, most are cheap toys but on occasion there is one good figure or two and on an even slimmer occasion there may be a Battat. I think it is Dinolord who has had a lot of luck hunting them down that way, I have yet to find any myself. Hopefully he will drop by this thread eventually. Here is a thread started by a member who is selling their Battat Dilophosaurus, I don't know for how much though. dinotoyforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=classifieds&action=display&thread=2928I have pretty much given up hope of ever collecting them all myself. I'm far too new at this and far too cheap, just to have one would be spectacular...depending on which one that is.

Ah yes, I have acquired a few of my Battats that way (and some other rare figures such Invictas and Jurassic Park figures). In about a year long search (I am currently on a break from Battats and dinosaur figures in general), I managed to acquire 14 out of 18 of the figures. I got 2 of them through the aforementioned method, but in my searches I have seen a couple other lots with Battats that I already had. If you're searching for the Edmontonia using this method, be careful. The Battat Edmontonia is a figure with an extreme amount of knock-offs. If you think you see a Battat Edmontonia in a lot of random dinosaur toys, treat it with skepticism because chances are it's a knock-off. A useful tip is that the Battat one has yellow eyes, while many of the knock-offs will have black eyes. If you're interested, I chronicled the tale in my collection thread. Since then I have only acquired the Amargasaurus.

Almost all of my battats were acquired through hidden auctions, including a diplo and two acros, and 7 of the minis. I have since replaced a few with "minter" versions bought in open battat auctions. Hidden auctions may not be worth it though if you are looking for mint figures.

Thanks for the replies so far, I really appreciate it!
I'm not familiar with hidden auctions, but I HAVE thought of lot auctions. I have "battat dinosaur" and "dinosaur lot" as saved searches and iphone app alerts any time a new "battat dinosaur" listing is posted. I was just hoping there were perhaps other outlets or opportunities... I've even thought of weekly trips to Goodwill, just in case anyone else is as stupid as I was... ;-p

Well, Battas are averaging around $25 -50 for the more "common" figures. You may also want to post on the classified section, see if anyone has duplicates they want to sell. Good luck, If I find I still have duplicates, I will let you know.

Thanks! I got the alert last night and it's on my watch list, but if it goes for more than $500, I may be out of luck...

I'm curious (and probably dumb also), hidden auctions??

Sorry, what I mean is a listing that contains a battat dinosaur, but doesn't mention battat or boston museum of science anywhere in the title or description.

Gotcha, like finding a gem in a dinosaur toy lot.
