So there's this newspaper in my country called the Daily Telegraph. It's basically a tabloid paper that I don't bother buying ever, because it sucks.
One of the things that the Telegraph does is give out promotional stuff. They did this for Harry Potter earlier in the year, and now they're doing one called Dinosaurs Unearthed, which doesn't seem to promote anything in particular despite efforts to link it in to the JP Blu-ray release.
Basically, for two weeks the paper comes with a little token that you can cut out and give to a newsagent (along with $2) to get a wooden dinosaur skeleton model and a fact sheet. I wouldn't have gotten sucked into collecting it if it weren't for the combination of odd models like the Gigantspinosaurus, my own dinosaur mania, and the fact that the Telegraph's low standards would make for much hilarity.
So right now we are seven models in, out of 15. I've been blogging about them over on tumblr, but I'll post pics of them here. The majority of them are shrunken-down simplified versions of wooden kits you can buy elsewhere, aside from the Gigantspinosaurus.
The fact sheets are interesting, to say the least, because despite the disclaimer on the back of the album (included with the Stegosaurus), the information they contain is often outdated or just wrong (like the Spinosaurus sheet, which claims that it could have been a quadruped).
However, the real hilarity comes with the articles included in the paper itself, which have clearly not been subjected to any kind of proofreading. Thus we get gems like 'Dimetrodon was an early dinosaur' (which the factsheet refutes), a typo that implies that O.C. Marsh waited over 100 years to describe Pteranodon in the 1970s, and a caption of a screencap from Primeval as being from WWD.

Dimetrodon (the closest the line has to an exclusive, because of weird regional newspaper issues that make it unavailable in Queensland)
