Well, I have to start somewhere showing what little dinosaur toys/models I have, and what better place than with my beloved old British Museum (Natural History) Invicta series (which by the way is incomplete). The Stegosaurus has a little chip off of one of his plates (I have not been as careful as I should have been, I guess) and he seems to slowly change color because of it (or maybe because of continued exposure to light ;) - anyway he is getting a bit ugly because of all my maltreatment, poor guy). Over time I tried to (partially) paint some of the models, but I removed it because I liked the monochrome actually better: it is part of their charm I guess. Attachments:

Off to a good start!
BTW, what's with all the Dutch titled books in that pic if you're from Norway? Or is it just for the pictures?

Hi Archosaur, nice Invicta collection! Since you already have the Troodon and Lambeosaurus, I guess it won't be too hard to complete the set. Of the few you are missing the Dimetrodon is probably the least common but the rest should be fairly easy to find.

Nice Invicta collection! Invicta's and other older dinosaur models and toys are my favorites. And also welcome to the forum! I also like your art books - as if I am looking at shelves from my own house

I should give this Tony McVey 'Running T-rex' a matte finish I guess. What paint should I use? Or maybe I should change the colors on the animal first. As you can see, I have not been very careful with this model: I broke it one time just above the ankle (and I was not careful enough camouflaging the repair). Attachments:

Great collection. I'm working on collecting the Invicta figures myself but I still have a long way to go, the Tyrannosaurus is really cool too, I don't know that I would change the color on it. Looks like you have quite the book collection too, as do I. I was admiring your nice selection of dinosaur books in particular. Very jealous of your Pterosaur Encyclopedia.

Yes, the pterosaur encyclopedia (Wellnhofer, 1991) is a very nice book, even if the science has progressed a lot since then and a lot more species have been discovered. I recommend the following site: pterosaurheresies.wordpress.comBy the way, talking about old books and outdated science, I have a book from 1934 called 'the Dinosaurs - A Short History of a Great Group of Extinct Reptiles'. It is one of my little treasures, if only for the reproductions (models and drawings) specially commissioned for the book. Maybe I could show a few pictures of some of its pages here on the forum.

I know many members, myself included, are interested in seeing the resin McVey T.rex (your painted version), so your photos are more than welcome. Please try to upload them via Photobucket or another similar outlet so we don't need to click on them to see them; I'm sure the uploadiing process is outlined in the faq somewhere.

I recommend the following site: pterosaurheresies.wordpress.comInteresting link, I'll have to read some of it when I get the time. Also of interest to pterosaur fans is this site pterosaur-net.blogspot.com/That is the place where I first read about the pterosaur encyclopedia. I guess there are only three serious adult oriented books solely concerning pterosaurs and so the encyclopedia is a must have. I have another pterosaur book by David Unwin that is more recent, a great read if you can find it.

Archosaur likes sauropods too? Hooray! And marine reptiles too! Your Rex, that is a glorious resin. GLORIOUS. I am extremely envious of you now. I like the matte finish idea.
You most definetly should share 'The Dinosaurs - A Short History of a Great Group of Extinct Reptiles' pages. I would thoroughly enjoy seeing drawings from the 30's. XD

My latest acquisitions (with more on the way ;) I got a refund on the Ichthyosaurus. I did a computer paint job of the Papo Spinosaurus (because I am too lazy to do it for real ;)

God almighty. That Miragaia is huge. Depends on your point of view I guess, but scale-wise it is indeed big: 1:30. It is 24 cm measured in a straight line. It is an adorable model and one of my favorites (along with the other 'Carnegies'). I have the Carnegie Diplodocus and 2012 Brachiosaurus on my wish list, but they are expensive (especially including shipping) ...

That miragaia and postosuchus look awesome. I am planning to get them someday. They are exceptional, finely crafted, nicely painted models and seem very accurate. But accuracy is not my first priority, as you may have noticed: I do have some Papo's and I am thinking about buying some Schleich models too: they have a kind of charm, and together they complement each other nicely, I think. I don't mind 'old school' (Invicta's) or a retro look (the new Schleich Apatosaurus for example), as long as the models are nicely crafted. Although we would like our model toys to be as scientifically accurate as possible, it's just as much about esthetics and 'character', in my opinion (which is of course disputable). But taste is indeed something personal, because I do like the Schleich Apatosaurus, whereas I don't really like their new Spinosaurus - but I do like the Allosaurus though (would like to have that), and the Parasaurolophus is even better (and probably will buy that as well)

Nice collection and cool digital paint job on the Spino. Is the background from the computer, or did you actually go out and find a little stream and pose the Spino there? You also put into perspective the size of the Carnegie Carnotaurus for me. It's huge!
