Okay folks--it turns out that the Safari document was a work in progress. So that mean the Spinosaurus may still appear.
And here is another thing--I mentioned a few 'wish list' items that I thought would suit Safari (probably as 'Wild Safari' line items). Being selfish, my requests were a brontothere and an entelodont (fairly common, big, impressive critters from this area, as well as most of western North America). They are workable from a marketing perspective because they show up in pretty much every North American museum that has fossil mammals (most of them do) as well as some European ones. He claims that he will suggest them to the appropriate group.
He has also mentioned that, if I have any other animals that might have WORLDWIDE appeal, he would open to the suggestions. And he is asking for pictures to back up the suggestions (it makes it easier for them to visualize, I'm guessing).
So what else would you like to see from Safari. Use common sense here--they are not going to do everything suggested (or, for all we know, anything). But if you had to pick one animal, suggest it. I don't want a list, because if everyone suggests one thing, that is a list already. And try to keep in mind the parameters--unique, recognizeable, marketable, worldwide appeal. Try to avoid suggesting animals that are similar to existing figures (e.g. asking for Albertosaurus when they already do Tyrannosaurus. We all know they are different, but to them it will be pretty much the same figure in a different pose). Also--don't say things like "..do a new...". Suggesting revamps, reissues and resculpts is pointless. They know what they've done. We are looking to suggest all together new things.
Yes, this is limiting. That's the price of business. And I will edit the list down to a few things; overwhelming people with these things is also counterproductive. And who knows, maybe they'll listen.
Just so you all know, I am already planning to suggest Sarcosuchus and Xiphactinus (They like their marine critters these days). So go at it.
