If you saw my post in the Dinosaur Toy section you would see that I am in the process of creating a diorama based upon the Jurassic Park. It is going to be MASSIVE. My estimates have concluded that it will measure almost 8 foot by 16 foot. It will include a lagoon, a stream running through each paddock. 13 species of Dinosaurs, I will be working to 15 species, but for now it will be 13. Almost 60 dinosaurs from the Carnegie Collection. I chose them because of the scale, and the details would match with what I can build/create on a diorama. It will include an Aviary, 5 Carnivore paddocks, and a massive herbivore paddock stretching around the diorama. I plan to have large jungle areas in each paddock. Now I have most of the Dinosaurs, and will be purchasing some basic landscaping supplies. and the rest of the Dinosaurs soon. The Dinosaurs include: 1996 Apatosaurus ( I have four now (adults and babies), but I figure by the time I finish this diorama, a new sculpt will be released so I am biding my time there) 2007 Parasaurolophus (Four sculpts, and substitute for Hadrosaurus) 1996 Maiasaura (Three adults, and then some juveniles, planning on a few more adult maias) 2007 Stegosaurus (Four adults) 2000 Triceratops (Six adults) 1999 Tyrannosaurus (One Adult) 2002 Styracosaurus (4 now, going to purchase 3 more) 2005 Ankylosaurus (4 now, 2 more soon) 1996 Dilophosaurus (4 now, 2 more soon) 2007 Carnotaurus (2 Adults) 2007 Quetzalcoatlus (2 adults, 2 more later on) 2009 Spinosaurus (need to purchase) 2007 Velociraptor (3 adults now, and 2 to purchase)
I have to build all of the stuff from scratch so and buy it so it will take probably two to three years before its finished completely.
Has anyone else done a diorama like this one?

Here are some experimental stuff that I made to base it around. The fencing will be much more elaborate as will the landscaping, will be acquiring new cars as well. The Pterosaurs nor the Spinosaurus are present in these pictures.Landscaping is not nearly as elaborate as the actual diorama will be. These were taken when I had the 1996 Stegosaurus, I'm upgrading to the 2007 version after they sell on Ebay. Triceratops Section of Herbivore Paddock Tyrannosaurus Paddock. Stegosaurus Territory of Herbivore Paddock Hadrosaurs and Apatosaurs Territory of Herbivore Paddock Dilophosaurus and Carnotaurus Paddocks This is like the brainstorming of an essay. What do you think?? ;D

I like it. It would certainly be different.

Looks pretty good, sounds rather ambitious! I wouldn't use only the same species models for creating herds of dinosaurs though. But then, dinosaur models of different companies rarely look alike.

Wow, that's extremely creative! I wish I had the space to do something like this! Nice!

It is very ambitious, I've thought it over for a while on like how big, initial costs, etc. I also realized that I did not post a picture of the Hadrosaurs and Sauropods. Sorry, I will get right on that. Roselar, the herds are setup different in these pictures than they will in the actual diorama. Yes they rarely look similar.

The Hadrosaur and Sauropod Territory. Im planning on making this model as close to the book as possible, the paddocks will be huge so they can accomadate and make it look real. Several toy dinos.........

I will be painting the fences on the big diorama. I also want to be able to make them look like they are set into concrete. It will take some tweaking to do. The road will be done more accurately as well.

If my Dinosaurs don't hurry and sell off on ebay today, I may have to postpone a few purchases

This is incredible! I can't wait to see more pictures! If you think these look good, I cant wait to get the main diorama done. It will be spectacular, spared no expense.

Yesterday, I combined my paddock/fence map, and topographical map onto scaled grid paper. The diorama will 8 by 16 foot. The stream will run close to, if not exceeding, 40 fit. in length. The lagoon is almost 3 squared feet. The Forested/Jungle area are almost 50 to 70 squared feet. And almost 50 ft. worth of fencing.........this is going to take a while......................

Ordered the last Styracosaurs, when they arrive it will put me at 7 Styracosaurs. And I ordered the 2009 Spinosaurus as well. My next quests will be the retired Carnegie Dilophosaurs, and a few cheaper Maiasaurs.

These are my Jurassic Park Dioramas, I think have almost 2/3 of them purchased. I'd like to add 2 more Adult Apatosaurs, and 2 Apatosaur babies. I'm waiting though to see if they are going to make a new sculpt of it this coming year. Then one more Parasaurolophus, and 3 to 4 more Maiasaurs depending on the right prices and such. 2 More Stegosaurs, 3 more Triceratops, 2 more Ankylosaurs, 2 more Pterosaurs, 2 more Velociraptors, and Im trying to find another Dilophosaur pair. That will put me at 63 Dinosaurs on the Model....

Also, I had been thinking about using the new Carnotauruses from Carnegie because of the awesome sculpt but I hate the scaling difference and the 2007 ones give a chameleon affect to the models as they are portrayed in The Lost World.
