I was wondering if anybody else collect real fossils? I am sure that many of you do. So what kind of fossils do you have in your collection? What are they? I started collecting fossils a while back. I mostly collect fish, trilobites, shells, wood. My prized ones includes a Brazilian fish that is a foot long, a big ammonite, euriptids, and shrimp. Hope to hear about your collection ;D

I don't sadly. I don't know where to find them. And if I did, they would be out of my price range.

I have a ton! My most prized are a mosasaur jaw, a rooted mosasaur tooth, a cephalaspis head plate, a desmostulus tooth, multiple megalodon teeth, a hadrosaur egg, a hadrosaur tooth, and many others. I think of what else I have.
I'd love to see the eurypterid, boki!

Boki, you have an euripteryd?! Do you have pics?! Ok, so I rounded up some of my fossils that are out on display for a photo op. So here is some of my favorite ones. I have more including a horn ( I thinks it's from a mammal and not dino, looks like a rhino to me), shrimp, madagascar fish, amonite, etc. that are not in the picture...yet ;D [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/S7306963.jpg" A closer look at my Calanopleurus (?) fish from Brazil. He is about a foot long and very heavy! [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/S7306964.jpg" Hope you all enjoyed the show ;D And finally the euripteryd. I got him as a gift years ago. he is one of my favorite, just look at the detached head. he is about 5" long, the matrix is very hard and you can see bits of other fossils in it. The hadrosaur egg was a Christmas gift. I'll post a more complete list later (I have a few hundred fossils). Other favorites are Pliocene bird footprints, oreodont jaws, a whale ear bone, 6 gill shark teeth, a megamouth shark tooth, and a wolly mammoth tooth! My favorite, though: a piece of fossil steller's sea cow rib. If anyone wants pics let me know!

Where do you people get these fossils? ? How do you afford them? I want a T-Rex tooth!!!! Grrrrr.... As someone with a marquee T.rex specimen in a museum, this is a sentiment that drives me nuts. What would you do with it? Would you keep it available for study? Record and maintain all stratigraphic and location data? Why not a well done replica? We have several; most places do. The advantage is that they don't cost upwards of $20000 for a decent-sized one. I know I am risking a bit of vitriol here, but I have a hard time with fossils as mantle pieces (shark teeth and shelled things don't really count, there are lots of those).

What do you do with dino toys? You look at them. Besides its basically the thought of having a real Tyrannosaurid tooth. Look at my collection on the first pic, I have a rex replica tooth.... ;D
