I am starting a new thread regarding the politics that just got created. I dare not enter it for fear of what I will read and find out about everyones view So, I will state my position on this, like I have posted when it first reared it's ugly head in another thread (stuff). Political views are very personal and a very sensitive topic to even get into. After 2 years of intense campaign leading to the election, it has been a very emotional roller coaster ride. Dragging politics into the forum is asking for BIG trouble, IMHO. I know that each one is free to express their views on politics, but I really don't think this is the right place to do it. Political views have been so polarized that so many friendships ruined. I don't want that to happen here. For crying out loud, we already have the whole feathered dinosaur to keep everyone excited, we don't need politics. Have we not have enough already? After 2 long years? The main reason I want to point this one out is that I really enjoy and respect every Dinosaur Toy Forum member. I truly do. I am afraid to read what other members have to say mainly because I know that we all don't see eye to eye on politics. I don't want to read all the nasty comments that has been and will be made. It will all lead to hurt feelings, loosing respect for each other, and worst loosing members. I have had personal correspondence with some of you and have even done trades/sales. I don't want to ruin that friendship by having to know where you stand politically. It's easy to get carried away knowing that we are far apart and can't really say that to each other face, but the effect is the same even here on this forum. I really don't want my opinion of anyone be influenced by our differences in our political views. We have love for dinosaurs and dinosaur toy figures in common, so we should keep it that way instead of opening up the most sensitive, most personal of our differences. I would not write something like this if I don't value the community and friendship I have found in this forum. So, I am hoping that out of respect for each others views and beliefs, keeping friendships intact, that the POLITICS thread be closed and that personal political beliefs never have to be pushed on anyone. Please, before we regret it.That is my call to all of you..... Bokisaurus

Boki, I didn't know the politics thread was going to end up that way, and before you started this thread I suggested that it be locked. I deeply regret starting the thread, and I hope no one was personally offended.

I am certain I was part of the problem. I unfortunately did not bite my tongue and not add my comments like I had wanted to after I had read what was on the political thread.
I do apologize for making anyone angry.

My response is directed to no one in particular but also to everyone who have read it and participated in it. I am just glad that it got pulled before we all regret it. Thank you So for those who read it, I hope that you can all forget about it and what might have been said and not hold any grudge against those members who's views may not agree with yours. So, shall we all move on?

I do apologize for making anyone angry. You didn't say anything wrong. When people say things like" Democracy is a joke" and "Democracy won't keep this country alive " Then maybe they should go off and live under a dictatorship. And comments like "War is the answer". Tell me what answer did we get out of Vietnam." I have a lot more to say, if anyone wants to take it up with me they can PM me.

Boki, no offense, but you seem to be the one that has a problem with other people's opinions. Every time somebody disagrees with you, you start to complain I think that if you truly respect and appreciate another person you should be able to discuss with him whatever topic is at hand. If one ends up losing his friendship, I say he was never a friend... I was perfectly comfortable with the thread. Besides, I don't like to restrict topics... And I agree with stoneage, comments like those are pretty stupid

Procon, is that it? And I truly respect and appreciate other in this forum, I just felt that that thread is just going on way to far. I just did not want it to go out of control. If you think that I have a problem with peoples opinion, then thats really unfortunate and that saddens me. Ironically I was trying to avoid any blow up since having been subjected to so much politics the last 2 years I know that it get get ugly really quick. The person who started that thread chose to have it pulled before I even posted mine. So I have nothing to do with it being pulled. My call is for everyone, if they don't agree and want to continue, then be it. You are one of the admins, so I am sure you have the power to unlock that thread if you want and continue it.

No, I won't create another one, I'm just saying that we should be able to talk about anything (not just freaking toys) without any 'blow up'. There are disagreements everywhere (here and in real life), and if these disagreements don't surface on the Politics thread, they will sure surface somewhere else. Heck, we don't even agree about toys.
Just my two cents.

This is obviously stoneages' fault. We should harass him! Sorry Boki if I offended you. I actually hate politics and really don't care who wins, but when a topic is brought up, I will usually post in it. .... Your right though, this forum shouldn't really stretch as far as politics. They really are friendship ruiners. I was going to stop posting in it very soon, but couldn't help it when I was quoted. ;D Those comments aren't dumb, they sound dumb...but they aren't. If something tragic happens like that, what can you do..? Anyway, Nuff' said. Politics suck. Stoneage, might I add that 95 percent of your comments are also pointless? (Usually to me! ;D So I guess if you still believe those comments are stupid, that makes us brothers in a way. ;D ;D ;D

Politics, like religion, science, relationships, and favourite toys, are never absolutes, and so can lead to arguments. It's just that ones like religion and politics (but not science...!) seem to get people riled up more than others.
That's why there are whole forums dedicated to just that sort of thing. This stuff kind of kills the fun of dino collecting. And yes, ruins relationships.

And I agree with stoneage, comments like those are pretty stupid You know what, this really bothered me that you think of me this way, it really does. I started this thread in the hopes that I can warn of the danger the political thread is heading. Living in the US, I have to live with the whole election politics for 2 years, bombarded by it 24/7 via ads, internet, radio, tv. This forum was one of the place that I found that is free from it, where you can feel calm even just for a few minutes. I have seen it first hand how ugly it can get. I have seen friends, family, coworkers, and just people around me turn on each other because of their opposing views of the election. this particular election is different in its intensity and how it has become very personal to many people here in the US. Emotions are still high and raw so it won't take long before someone will say something that he/she may regret or seriously insult another one. So my intention was to try and avoid that spilling over to this forum. As I have said, I did not read the content of the political thread. But I have a feeling that it got ugly that the person who started it felt that it has gone far and have asked Dr, Admin. to pull it. I have not singled anyone out, I have not expressed opinion about who is right and who is wrong, and most of all I have not attacked anyone personally. I think most of the people who read my post will agree. And I hope that you read my post first before making the comment. There are thousands of blogs out there dedicated to just political views where people can talk about politics until they have nothing else left to say. So I felt that it is not necessary to drag it in here. My question to you is this: if you feel so strongly and is so comfortable about the political thread, then what is stopping you from making a new one? I would like to know. I am sure that it's not because of the fear of offending me, thats already been taken cared off. And I am certain that you don't agree on any word I have said, your comment made that crystal clear. Politics takes the fun out of why we are a member here in the first place, thats just MHO.

Don't worry boki, the thread didn't get out of hand ;D If another one were to start, I'd have nothing to do with it, because your right, it doesn't belong on the forums. I don't want to contradict tomhet on what he has said, but just in my knowledge, I haven't seen you get upset over someones opposite beliefs.

boki, I didn't mean to offend you and I'm very sorry if it sounded that way. I'm not saying that you disagreed with anybody, it's that you in advance didn't want to disagree. What I mean with you having a problem with the opinion of others is that, despite what you said, you take the discussions too personally, that's what happened with the Procon issue.
Anyway, politics is an important issue, but now I know nobody wants to discuss it, fine, I won't mention the topic again. That's why I won't open another one, out of respect to you guys.
