Hmmm, I'm a bit skeptical. I'm pretty sure the parrot was just agitated by that kid choking, and nothing more. I don't think the parrot could actually comprehend what was going on. It kind of annoys me when people claim animals are being compassionate when they act on instinct, I dunno.
And parrots aren't raptors, they're psittacines.

Your saying that parrots aren't related to raptors? I wasn't saying they were birds of pray, I was saying they are relatives of raptors. Some reptiles can recognize their owners though. Same with dogs and cats.

Yeah, thought you were refering to birds o' prey. Of course birds are related to velociraptors, but not directly. Maniraptorans are sort of an offshoot of that line, same as humans in relation to great apes, except luckily for you and I we ain't extinct yet. I think dogs and cats definitely recognize their owners, but it may be more of them just knowing where the food comes from...

Yes, I think cats and dogs are more then smart enough to recognize people. We see many examples of this.
