Hey all, great site! My name's Chuck and I live in the NYC area. Like many of you, I came across your forum when doing some dino figure searches. I've been doing some catch-up reading here first, before joining. Wow, you guys really know your stuff! I've definitely got some studying-up to do to come up to your level of knowledge. I am impressed! As far as my collecting history, I guess it all started when I got my first Marx figures when I was 5 or 6 years old. (Yes I am old enough to remember when you could just go to your local toy store and buy them!) I instantly fell in love with them. I couldn't believe that these amazing animals really existed! I started looking up everything I could find on them. By early grade school, I knew all their names, sizes, what Eras they were from, and how to draw them! On some of our family's summer trips, we went to some of the dino parks in the US. I even saw the original life-size Sinclair replicas! Remember their "Brontosaurus"? Well, like I've read from many of you, I lost track all of my original collection. I guess by the time I got to high school and then college, I thought I was over toys. Then, I saw the first Jurassic Park film and I fell in love all over again!! I got my first Carnegie figures on my very next birthday and haven't stopped since! Now I have all the Carnegie (old and new), Battat, Papo, and alot of Wild Safari, Bullyland, Schleich, WWD, and now some Procon! I also have many books, DVDs and videos. I think I've recorded about every documentary show on cable. I think I'm starting to OD on them by now! So, I think I'll be right at home here, lol! And, I also think I will learn so much from you guys. BTW, I also love to post pics. Can you tell me what's the best way to post on here? I see there's a single image insert button. But, is there a better way to post many pics at the same time? I've used PhotoBucket and ImageShack before on other forums. I have some pics of my collection ready to post. Anyway, good to have finally joined here. Looking forward to alot of dino talk, news, and pics!!! ~ Chuck

Welcome Meso! Glad you joined! Cool Dinotopia signature I don't think their is a quicker way to post multiple pics - I usually copy-paste the code for one image and then modify the file name for each one. Teton seems to be the most prolific poster of pics these days - perhaps he has some wisdom to share? ;D The basics of posting images is covered here: dinotoyforum.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=feetback&action=display&thread=126

Hey, guys. Thanks for the welcome!
Thanks for the pic posting tips, Dinotoyforum (gotta get to know all your names).
And don't worry all, I find every prehistoric beast fascinating in their own way! But, if I had to choose my top three favs, I would have to say: T-Rex, Diplodocus/Seismosaurus, and Stegosaurus. But, I do love the Papo Spino. How cool is he! I would so love them to do a true 1/40 scale Seismosaurus. I don't care if it ends up to be 3 feet and $50. That would be soooo awesome! I guess I like 'em big, lol!! Actually, the new Carnegie Diplo cost only around $30 and is about 2 feet. So, that's $15 a foot. A 3 foot Seismo then would only be $45! Wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
Anyway, I'll try and get some of my collection pics up in the Collection area soon.

BTW, I like that Dinotopia pic too. I think it's well done. The relative scale in the pic isn't bad either. Boy, I tell ya, that would be my dream world!

Yeah, the Sauropods are up there in price. But, when I got my new Schleich Brachi, I was impressed with how much he weighed! I still would love a full 1/40 "double-beamer". Not that I would have to have a herd of them though, lol!!

:-/I have found no easier way of posting pics. I use photobucket, and post a thread or reply. Then I just keep modifying the post. I bookmark the modify post page and pop between bookmarks. I stop to check, now and then, that the image loaded. I sometimes have trouble getting the curser just so..... It can take a while, especially with the volume of photos I have posted. And in my case, I crop and color correct them in a photo editing suite, then upload them to photobucket, only 20 at a time!, then load them one at a time onto the site. But then, I'm nuts, and have the paperwork to prove it. Imagine if I WASN'T on Prozac....... If y'all want me to post pics less often, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm having fun. Don"t worry, I am rapidly running out of dinos to paint...

It saves a lot of time.

I think it still only uploads twenty or so at a time. How sad is it that that is never quite enough.... I really do post a lot of pics I guess...

You could have bought a twenty dollar safari camarasaur instead of that twenty dollar chinasaur set you bought at wal-mart.

I know what you mean, Teton. I always run all my pics through Photoshop before posting. My problem -- a bit OCD! Lol!
I use Photobucket on the other forums I post on. And, when I wanna post more than 20 at a time, I use Flock. You can selct all and they all upload into my Photobucket all at once! Cool, huh?!
Only problem I see here is that after you upload your pics in Photobucket, you just have the pics, right? Not the URL code. The other forums I post in, which uses Yuku as their host, has an icon in the "Add Tags" bar that you just click on and all your Photobucket images come up and you can then just click on them and they insert right into your message.
Oh well, I like a challenge. And, I like to post pics even more, lol!!!

But, it is not twenty dollars really now, is it. It will be another ten to ship it, bring the cost up to thirty. It is why I have to go slow on ordering the sauropods I want. That Kinto Favorite Apato will cost me thirty, and he is not that big. The Procon Augustinia is the same, but at least he is a little bigger
