Now that the contest is over, I thought I will share some of the dioramas I made using photoshop. It was hard choosing one to submit for the contest. Anyway, some of the dioramas you may recognize from my other post. I took all the pictures including the backgrounds I used. When out hiking or trips, I usually keep a lookout for scenery that I can take picture of and use for backgrounds on a later date. If you worked with photoshop before (tomhet will appreciate the work ;D), you know how time consuming the process is. So many layers ;D So here they are, hope you all like it ;D Pterosaurs over Seattle! The view is from my living room, nice yah? [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/seattlecopy.jpg" [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/Sunsetbattle.jpg" Two versions of the same diplo scene, one colored the other B&W. The little pterosaurs took a lot of work! Each one is a separate (so are the diplos) layer. If you notice the shadows, those are all separate layers, too. Yes, I created them individually ;D [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/Diploatbeach2.jpg" From South America... [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/Amargasaur.jpg" And the last one is dedicated to Dr. A ;D It's his expedition vessel! [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/Kronojpg2.jpg" Hope you all enjoyed the show These will be my last dios for a while. I am just too busy right now and they take so much time making. So enjoy it! ;D I had a lot of fun

The krono in the last one seems to be at an odd angle.

They are so cool, every one of them would have won the Diorama contest. The Diplos in pic 3 are amazing, I wish i had time to learn how to photo shop. Well Done and don't wait to long to make more.

Boki, first of all let me congratulate you. I dabble in Photoshop and can see how much time you put into those. You have a great eye for scene composition and a wonderful grasp on your imagination!
Ok, now for a bit of artistic constructive criticism (just my opinion of course)...
In the first pic, it's great that you made each Pterosaur a different value of shading. It might also help to make some different sizes to show more depth and distance from you and from each other. Ex: I would make the left of the 2 bottom ones, a little smaller. It would make him look a little farther back than the others he's close to. Right now, it looks as if his wings are going to get tangled up with the other two. It's a great view. I'm jealous!
The second pic is simply brilliant! The only thing I might alter a bit is, I would move either the Diplo a little closer to you or move the Allo a little further from you to make the Diplo look a little bigger. The Allo looks a little too big, as it is, compared to the Diplo's size. But then again, as it is now, it could look like the Diplo is a little further from the camera and the Allo is a little closer to you. So, I guess it's just the perspective you want to achieve. IMO, I'd like to see the Diplo a bit bigger. And, you being a sauropod lover, wouldn't you, lol!
The third pair of pics is an amazing scene you've created! I love the haze! One problem though. What happened to the snouts of the 4 Diplos walking in the background? They look like they got cut off, lol! The Pterosaurs look good in this one. I see you made some different sizes to make some look closer and others farther away. Since there's so much reflection of light coming up from the ocean, might they be a bit more in silhouette? They might also show up a little better if they were a bit darker. Great composition though!
Fourth pic is good! Really like the area you photographed them on!!
Ok, the last pic is soooooo cool! It reminds me of a scene from "Jaws". Is there a way in photoshop to make just part of a figure gradually smaller? I think the front half, with the Krono's head, should gradually get smaller. It would make him look like he's lying down in the water at the same agle the ship is at. Look at the angle of the ship again. You want the Krono to be at the same angle to the horizon if you want to make him look as if he's swimming under the water. Now, he looks like his front half is coming out of the water but it's still water-distorted.
Anyway, these are just really picky little things. You are very good at this! Keep it up! I know you need a break, but can't wait to see more from you!!

The krono in the last one seems to be at an odd angle. ;D CT there is nothing wrong with the angle. The only thing odd is your perspective. ;D

;D And for all you other critics. We are talking about an award winning photographer here! Not just and also ran but the winner. If you can do better show us! However Boki, I do feel that when you use Diplodocus in your dioramas, there should be a Stegosaur or two. ;D

I love them! But like I said on another thread, cloning makes them look unnatural, I avoid that completely, I always take more than one pic, even if it's the same animal

The krono in the last one seems to be at an odd angle. ;D CT there is nothing wrong with the angle. The only thing odd is your perspective. ;D No, look at it- You see the boat from the top right. You only see the krono from the top, and none of it' right side is exposed to the camera. It looks like it's head should be coming out of the water, or the surface of the water is really messed up.

Thanks for all of your feedbacks ;D I will make sure to take all of your suggestions in mind when I do dioramas again. Yah, I agree, the first one is the weakest of them all. I need to find a better figure to use and a lighter background. The darkness is what frustrated me; trying to match the tone of each one proved to be more than what I bargained for I will make sure to include a stego to any future diplo diorama for you stoneage and ajax23 ;D Thanks for the suggestions and feedbacks Meso-C, wow, coming from you that means a whole lot! Hope everyone had a Good Thanksgiving! Too bad no good sales on dinosaur figures!
