I was thinking of picking up the missing links wooly rhino and was wondering if it was any good? Or, if there are better figures widely available out there? I would love a decent sculpt, any suggestions?

The ML rhino is pretty rare, I think. Other than that, here are your options (I know some of these are rare, I'm just trying to list them all): Starlux--http://www.rubberdinosaurs.com/starlux7.htm Bullyland--http://www.dinosaurcollector.150m.com/bullyland_preHis_mammalst.htm Wild Republic--large, toob, mini, new toob AAA--http://www.dinosaurcollector.150m.com/aaa.htm Chick Yeut Mech Panosh Tedco I'll go back and link to pics after, and thanks for the list sbell, I used it for the list

You know where they are still available ? If so, yes, I would get one/them, as you can probably not find them elsewhere. They are darn rare. I saw a woolly rhino from this series go for well over 100.00 this past fall, and a mammoth with calf go for over 200.00. The Neanderthal figures are hard to come by as a set too, and I think they are among the best Neanderthal figures ever produced. (what can I say, just like I like prehistoric birds, I like prehistoric mammals ) I like that AAA rhino...I have seen the AAA mammoth, and though it was ehh, but that rhino looks nice. Is it avalable anywhere ? I tried to sell some Missing links figures I have been sitting on for years, but even at the low price of 28.00$ the mammoth and the rhino didn't move. I guess just like the housing market and the battat figures, the "bubble burst" (I am kind of glad about that, though, as now they are going on a road trip out to Theri, and some Battats are going to come live here These were not even cheap figures when they first came out - all of mine are mint and had $17.50 priced on the tags for the mammoth and rhino, and $8.50 for each of the adult Neanderthals (5.50 for the juvenile) and those are the prices from back from the early 90's) As for the Rhino, I think it is the best "toy" Woolly Rhino figure out there. (I like the pose on the miller figure more, but thats another story) The mammoth is nice, but there are alot of mammoths to choose from, so its easy to find one to fill the mammoth part of your collection unless you are a completist. Theri outlined some of the other options for a woolly rhino above. All of the missing links figures are large, solid and heavy, and all of the ones I have are nicely painted, something many of the early safari figures lacked. I have some pictures of my personal set in the snow dioramas if you want to see the figures in more detail. dinotoyforum.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=dioramas&action=display&thread=703On a related note, I think its a MAJOR bummer the newer safari line of prehistoric mammals did not continue. I thought the ones they did do were amazing and dynamic figures and would have excitedly welcomed more species like stuff others do not or only rarely do, like an Entelodont, or something like a Teratorn...

I was thinking of picking up the missing links wooly rhino and was wondering if it was any good? Or, if there are better figures widely available out there? I would love a decent sculpt, any suggestions? Ah, the woolly rhino! ;D As Theri and CCM already mentioned, the ML figure is a great one. Unfortunately I don't have any of the ML figures ( Animals). They were expensive, and is now rare. I wish I could have afforded CCM's figures, but I already spent my ' budget" on other figures. So if you have a source for any ML figures, I would jump on it right away ( I am on the lookout for all the mammals, so if you find one let me know ;D) Anyway, there are many WM figures out, but it seems like they are now all hard to find. I personally like the Bullyland figure. Your best bet is probably the KMI figure, I think that one is still wildly available. However it is part of a set. Hmm, you may want to check it out since they are also sold as " Paint it yourself" figures ( all unpainted and waiting for your brush ;D) I also don't have this set... yet. here is a link to it; www.dinosaurfarm.com/iceageboxset.htmlA refresher photo of the fabulous Bullyland set: [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/S7307364.jpg" The Chick Yuet figures. I doubt you can find them anywhere here in the US, I got mine from sbell. These figures, except for the synthetoceras, are knock offs of the AAA figures, they did a good job since they really look identical except for the material and quality of paint job. [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/S7307372.jpg" Wow, I just realize I really don't have much Woolly Rhinos! It really is a shame that Safari stopped making more prehistoric mammals That set had great potential! I am just thankful they released the species I want, the Arsenotherium and Ambelodon, the best from the series IMHO ;D PS. Before you ask, I don't have any duplicate that I can trade with you teton As it is, I am trying to build up my humble prehistoric mammal collection .... unlike sbell ;D

He's right you know--I do have some extra Chick Yuet rhinos. Another one is the AAA rhino--the small one is the basis for the Chick Yuet; there is also a really big hollow vinyl one. They are green, so a paint job would definitely help. AAA is to the back and left: I have to agree that the Bully one is better in many ways--not quite so 'chunky'. And best of all, one of the few Bully mammals that is still available: tgftoys.com/?mainURL=/store/category/896t/Bullyland.html for example.
