Any suggestions for the best paint type(s) to use for doing custom repaints? I have tried acrylics to patch up dings on Schleich animals but it hasn't been all that successful. Full repaints may be a different matter. I picked up a Safari Dodo bird and am wanting to give it a more detailed repaint. As with a number of the Safari releases it has a great sculpt but badly done paint.

I don't like acrylics either. They always look kinda ugly. Unfortunately I haven't tried with anything else

Unfortunately I haven't tried with anything else I am painting with acrylics Amargasaurus (FrameMaster-styled) and Invicta T. rex with Citadel paints. Invicta is OK, but Amargasaurus (I don't know what material he is made off, I think rubber) is not so good... Fortunately I don't want Amarga to be very detailed, I just didn't like his original blue color. Schleich. Citadels are very good but to paint plastic or metal (well, all in all they're Warhammer-destined . Vallejo are form what I heard better, but also for metal and plastic... So I don't know. But if no acrylics then what?!

Not a toy line I'd personally treat a custom fodder, but it's your collection...

I have that Amargasaurus (the blue one, unless they've done a repaint) and, like most of their more recent puzzles, it is very well done--I have several of their puzzles (Acrocanthosuaurus, Pentaceratops, Seismosaurus, mini ice age animals) that all stand up well next to a Kaiyodo model. You can see their current line here: www.famemaster.com/Product/4D-Puzzle-Toys-Product-page1.htmalthough the site is not always that great for navigation, and too much of their line is not sold outside of East Asia (Gus? Are you out there?)--but of course, if you are willing to eat the exorbitant shipping costs, ebay can provide almost anything.
