So for this thread basically just talk about a movie or two that you'd like to see made, what it would be about, and why.
I would personally love to see a movie about the birth of paleontology, specifically Gideon Mantell's work and the subsequent rivalry between him and Richard Owen. Oh man if it was well made I could see a movie like that being phenomenal. I think it's a story that very few people know much about these days, and one that doesn't need a lot of action to be great.
Another movie that so sorely needs to be made imo is Dinotopia. Just think of how beautiful all the animals and locales (Waterfall City!) would look with modern special effects. I think The World Beneath would end up looking even better. Those stories are so great, but there probably isn't enough action to satisfy most people. These films still need to happen, though.

Ugh, not more JP4 shenanigans! Anyway, at least say more than that. Talk about what you would want to see happen in it and why. I think they opened up a whole new can of worms with the Pteranodons leaving the island in the end of JP3. I think that would be a far more acceptable plot device than the bologna that was actually being written for the film. Ooooh I almost forgot! A movie about the Bone Wars rivalry between O.C. Marsh and Edward Cope during the late 19th century also has the potential to be great a film. Those guys were insane in their attempts to ruin each others' reputations, but they ended up adding so much to the field of paleontology. My money would go to something like that over JP4 anyday!

JP4 with a giant Mosasaurus I'm not a big fan of the franchise, but that would boost the image of marine reptiles.

I would like to see a movie that would show a crazed dinosaur toy collector who has the power to make his toys come to life and uses them to wreak havoc on the people in his life that have tormented him- it would be like 'Ben' but wihtout the rats- he would sick his raptor toys on people-lol.It could be done with stop motion version of popular dino toys. Or how about this- a movie about an evil theropod- you see it in the first part of the movie killing and just being evil until a freak accident with a meteor kills it yet does something to it- you see it glowing as it dies- cut to the future where a mild mannered paleontologist digs it up- and then strange things begin to happen to him and the people at the museum- the evil theropod's spirit has somehow been affected by gamma rays of the meteor(you know how its always gamma rays in the old movies that cause everything)

Like i said once before i loved all JP Movies and even with silly or boring story-lines as some people thought the movies had, I still love watching great big dinosaurs chasing people around trying to eat them. As for a Dinotopia movie well i would rather cut the webbing between my fingers and squeeze lemon juice on them than put up with a movie about the most boring people in the world who babysit dinosaurs in a funny little hippy village. And i thought they had already made some Dinotopia movies because i seen one the other day as i was flicking through channels, I watched for about 5 seconds laughed a bit and then turned the channel.

Um, you should probably read the books before trying to judge them because "people who babysit dinosaurs in a funny little hippie village" doesn't really describe them at all. As for that made-for-TV miniseries from a few years back, I don't count it as part of the story because it didn't really follow the books at all and it truly was awful.

I would love to see Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern done, and done well. Also perhaps an actually decent version of Dune, and a live action, or animated, version of Elfquest. And, I would love an r-rated serious adaptation of A Stranger in a Strange Land.....

- JP4 - A Raptor Red animated movie by Don Bluth - A Conan movie, this time TRULY faithful to the source...Maybe an adaptation of "The Tower of the Elephant" - "At the mountains of madness" directed by Guillermo del Toro - A 3 hour movie following the whereabouts of various dinosaurs across the Mesozoic age...Without voices, only music (which MUST be amazing) and the sounds of nature...If made well it would be a True Masterpiece - A movie about McFarlane Dragons...C'mon,it would ROCK! - Another animated movie, this time about Stan the T.rex - A fifth (and last) Indiana Jones movie, this time about Indy (along with Mutt) travelling to the famous plateau first described by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his "The Lost World"! This time the villains should be a group of evil chinese scientists who'd try to kidnap the dinosaurs to perform vicious experiments ;D
