Wowowow! All your reactions really blow me away! I don´t want to promise too much. I will first call the museum, and if they say they have some in stock, I have to drive 90 kilometers to that museum and 90 kilometers back, maybe I will on Sunday and I WILL buy some Procynosuchus and sell them profitless on to you. Lots of work, though, especially finding out about postage...But if there´s a chance for all you mammal-like reptile hunters, I will seize the chance. I´m sorry that info... emailadress isn´t valid anymore. Try museum@korbach.de , perhaps this will work. Tu put it bluntly: I will try to get some and then let you know, but this shouldn´t hinder you from trying yourself. You are so kind to us desperate souls ;D I will try the email, but do keep me in mind, yes? ;D

is it me or it looks sortof hairy? Not surprising--a lot of cyndonts get hypothesized as having hair of some kind, often based on the presence of pores on the muzzle that look like the pores for whiskers on modern mammals. Also, cynodonts are within the same group that includes mammals (synapsids) so it isn't completely crazy (now if mammary glands showed up, that would be really weird).

...I called the museum today and they said they have more than 10 in stock. Now who wants me to have a little weekend excursion on Sunday morning? Serious answers please: Who would really like to have one, for how much money maximum and has paypal? Or would it be more fair to put them on ebay? I´m really unsure and would appreciate a little help with that matter.

Given that it was your hard work and knowledge that found this source in the first place, what you do next is your prerogative - you certainly don't owe anybody anything . Personally, I'd buy up the lot of them and strike up a reasonable deal with all your friends on this forum who are interested (certainly incorporate petrol charges and time expenses and everything at the very least into the price). By reasonable I mean a small profit, that is your entitlement. Then you can see what happens when you put one on Ebay. If it goes well for you, then you could do the same in the future to get rid of the rest. Just my thoughts

Totally agree with the Dr. Admin. If you go out of the way to do this, definately make it worth YOUR while too.....plus think of all the friends you can make in the collectors world! With that said......um, can I reserve one too

I have Paypal, and know how to use it. I would rather get this figure than any Starlux figure. In fact, not to be greedy, but if I could get two, so I could pass one on to Randy Knol, he may pee his pants. And please feel free to mark up enough to cover some travel costs and such--such a rare find should be rewarded. Sean.

I'd be willing to pay the up to twice the retail price. But then again, it is really your decision.

Hello Libraraptor, I'm ready to buy you one procynosuchus the price you feel fair. I've got paypal and know how to use it. I hope you will find enough beasts to make everyone happy. But I would understand if you prefer selling them on eBay. So good luck !

I have paypal and would like to buy one. You should take your total cost, price of figures, gas, your time and devide by the number of figures. Hope you have enough!

And honestly--add a margin for yourself. This is the type of thing that getting a reasonable profit on is acceptable. Of course, this is said by someone that will have no problem buying one (or, as I said before, two if possible)--I suppose it is different if budgets are tight and such, but I guess it all falls into Libraptor`s hands.

I would definitely be interested in one given the price isn't exorbitant.

Hey Libraraptor- put them on ebay one at a time-- You can then see what the going rate for these really is. Seriously, unless you are a saint or something, you have an opportunity here to score what sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity. This figure seems to be VERY rare. I think that anyone on this site would do the same thing. PLus it seems like the only fair way to go about this- if you just choose members you are not giving latecomers to your post a fair shake at these figures - an acution situation seemd like the only fair reasonable way to disperse these- otherwise you can be putting yourself in a situation where you make ten friends, and a lot more that have ill feelings for feeling left out. Take this advice from one who is not a collector and who has no desire for one of these- this seems like the only fair way to do it.

Libraraptor, thank you so much for doing this, I will buy one from you for sure, assuming you sell them here. I would avoid eBay due to the fees, as it would deduct from your profit. I have paypal and would be willing to, like Cordy, pay at least double retail plus fuel/shipping, etc. Thanks again! theri

Take this advice from one who is not a collector and who has no desire for one of these- this seems like the only fair way to do it. But are we profiteers or collectors? I know I have 'auctioned' through here--I had some sought after figures, and decided to share them out. The fair way for me was to offer them here--give a base price, have people give offers, highest wins. There is a good chance that I sold short on a few things, but I had a different goal in mind--I wanted fellow collectors from within my community (this forum) to have them. I didn't want some sniper jerk that isn't part of this forum to take away from someone I 'know'. Perhaps the best route for Libraptor would be similar--since he is doing this at the urging of us forum members, tell us how many he has, give a minimum price, take offers, highest bidders win. Or he could be doing to help others out--and just ask for fair price to cover costs and postage. Besides, Malcolm, are you not planning on selling your figures here first? Because we all know that after the first couple, and an ad in PT, Ebay auctions would be far more profitable to you as well. But it isn't always about money.

I was just thinking that it seems unfair to just go with a first come first serve "I call it" situation. I reread my post and it sounds a lot more opportunistic than I intended. I guess to me it seems that this lot of figures(if Libraraptor even goes to get them) are the type that are once in a lifetime type finds, and that every collector would want a shot at them, even if they needed time to evaluate if they can get the money together- set up a paypal account. Also I feel that there are some- myself included- who spend more time on this site than others- and I guess i just felt that an auction- whether it is on ebay or here(the method you describe sounds like a good one to me) would be fairer to all members instead of just calling them by who reads the post first- plus it would relieve Libraraptor from getting put in a very akward place;having to choose who to allocate them to, although he would be choosing to put himself in that situation through the goodness of his collecting heart... I did not mean to offend anyone, just tried to give an 'outsiders' perspective- as I am a 'retired' collector. Believe me I am no fan of ebay.

I did not mean to offend anyone, just tried to give an 'outsiders' perspective- as I am a 'retired' collector. Believe me I am no fan of ebay. In a nutshell--what's the difference between the chance someone will miss it here, and someone will miss it on Ebay? Except that way, he can pay excessive fees. And it may go to someone with one purpose--resell it (TLG, anyone?). Fact is, it is always a chance when collecting something that is hard to find--everyone here has probably bought at least one thing that nobody noticed, and everybody here has probably missed out completely on at least one auction due to poor timing or not searching correctly. Most likely, he would publicize the auctions here--then we can fight amongst ourselves, and those of us with the finances to do so could in theory make them disappear from everyone's grasp (side note--if you get one, Teton, you are not allowed to paint it.). Further, he can control who gets it, and how many. After all, there would be nothing to stop an unscrupulous person from high bidding every single one--then the only person with any would be one person--most likely, again, to resell at leisure and at very inflated cost. I am not naive enough to believe in the goodness of human nature that people wouldn't do it--it is not how I work as a collector, but from a business sense, it would be a reasonable tactic, and because of Ebay bidding rules, a bid is a contract, and there's nothing that can be done. I think it would be more correct to go through here--calling 'first' or not, sometimes things are not fair--usually to the people that didn't call 'first'. After all, I would like two. Not to keep both, but because I think it would be fun to give one to Randy Knol (I suppose a favour would be owed, but to me that is secondary). But I also understand that every single one would likely be spoken for by someone here--and he can only get so many. So Libraptor can chose what he wants to do (another possibility--get him in touch with Randy, and his name will be in scary bold font in the next PT as a miracle worker--I will admit to a certain satisfaction with the number of times I've been mentioned for various odd finds).
