Thanks for all the info JPRex !
That would be pretty cool if you couild somehow hang onto a prototype...if it's not the final sculpt I'm a little curious as to why they would cast a copy and send it to be checked...hmm.
6" is alright...it should be a little bit cheaper and we will be able to make pods of them... ;D
Forest posted the Spino pics in July lastyear..so maybe this month or next...this might hold me over until Malcolm gets the Shoni done.. ;D

At 6'' long,I would guess that makes the Ichthyosaurus communis model 1/10 scale.

Did it pass final approval ?

She had a six inch box packed inside a 15 by 15 inch box with newspaper inside and those annoying peanuts! LOL It looks like it will pass for approval everything looks good!

Oooh I can't wait to see! Nice to have the whole predation aspect in there too, but is there any evidence that ichthyosaurs actually fed on ammonites? I know there are Western Interior Seaway ammonites that bear bite marks from mosasaurs, but ichthyosaurs seem too narrow-snouted to crunch through those shells. Hopefully I'm wrong, because it just looks cool

Hey, thanks for the news and updates, MightyJPTrex! This one (or 2 or 3) will also be in my collection! ;D Although, I still have to get my hands on the WwD Ophthalmo! BTW, it must be true. It's already on Wikipedia! "New releases for 2010 will include Cryolophosaurus and Ichthyosaurus. The latter will feature an ammonite in it's jaws."

Good ole' Wiki is always right... ;D Could be the pointed snouts could plucked them out of their shells...or maybe their jaws were strong enough to crush them...I did some looking around but couldn't find an exact fossil proving they did feed on ammonites...there were icthys foun around ammonites and teeth near them..but that'sn ot proof really... this is a question for... someone who left us recently...maybe he'll come back and give us some info regarding it..

It isn't like you yourself actually received solid information about what is coming--you heard a rumour and posted it as fact.

If they have already cast the ichthyosaur, that means they have already cast the Crylophosaur. She can squash it all she wants.

I had already seen the crylophosaurus-- So it wasn't all a rumor If I'm not mistaken, you saw the sculpt on which the toy will be based. Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Just like the Brachiosaurus that we all saw photos of early this year. The company could decide to squash them just because word has spread to fast. Some of these companies take their work very seriously (you wouldn't believe how angry Safari was when Papo released a dodo right after they did).

But, they may not. Sure the cryo prototype pipcs are in the public domain, but details about the icthyo are apparently not, we would not want any members to get into truoble by spilling the beans, right? Especially something told to us in confidence??
Unless, we want them to stop leaking details, then it will all be a surprise....

I would be very careful of what I share at this stage of the game. Companies like Safari do "leak" some info, but some they really don't want to go our so fast. It may or may not be good publicity, and if the company feel like the figure is overexposed before it is even officially done, yah, they can pull the plug on those. So do try to limit your thirst for curiosity about the new figures, we all know in due time. I honestly want a surprise, I think it's one of the reason I was not excited about the Spino is that I felt it was so overexposed and hyped up so much that when it was released it felt liket it was so old already
