Since when is the storyline only the 'creature-of-the-week'? It's never been only about that. There has always been an underlying story or stories. For example, Helen had nothing to do with any 'creature-of-the-week', and that was the main story for the first three series! It was never 'only' about that, but mainly. The writers left a lot of good story points and focused on bringing new creatures and situations in instead, while they could have worked on what they had making it seem more logical and plausible. And Helen Cutter's plotting was just terribly inconsistent and incoherent. The writers just aren't very good, a simple truth. But I'm not watching this show for the writing.

I think I just got tired of Helen's boobs pushing out of her shirt (it was distracting and silly, but not in a good way...). Oh, and her motivations (at least in S1 and S2) were never really more clear than, well, a man wronged her so she did...something.

Just watched the new Season 4's Episode 1 and got caught up with the characters via those webvideo prequels. Liked it! Spino, Draco and Raptor were very well done, CGI-wise. There were probably some problems in accuracy, but I thought they looked really cool and realist as far as living animals are concerned.
The Dracorex definitely looked more dragon-like, right down to his wing-like movable sails on his back! But, definitely an awesome looking creature. We don't know that much about it's body though, right? Just that it was probably similar to (if not a younger) Pachy. Btw, has that belief been put to rest yet?

It was a pachycephalosaur...and maybe even a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus. So, probably no wings...

"Just that it was probably similar to (if not a younger) Pachy. Btw, has that belief been put to rest yet?" Nope. lol "I think I just got tired of Helen's boobs pushing out of her shirt (it was distracting and silly, but not in a good way...)" Agreed! I'm glad someone else thought the same thing as me about that! (Claudia Brown's I did like though )

And it was not an attractive distraction (also--at what point was Helen going to the hair stylists?p) Regarding Claudia--Agreed! Also, I did kind of miss Abby's usual Season 1 apartment attire...

Wow, that boar-croc sure got around with ease, speed and agility! ;D I do like their CGI work, though. The creatures look real to me, even if not quite accurate. And when I'm watching a show like this, that's important. And that "pachy" (didn't look like one to me -- unless you're referring to a juvenile pachy instead of a draco) did have wing-like sail thingies on her back that moved! I am referring to the show, you know, hehe. Not in real life. I just call it a dragon, like the new computer girl, Jess did.

Yeah I'm sorry but the character Helen just annoyed me on all fronts pretty much. She wasn't even a good villain. She was just nuts. The fact that she seemed overconfident about how sexy she thought she was when she really wasn't especially when you compare her to the other female characters on the show just made me hate her even more.
The Dracorex was originally in an episode where it ended up in the middle ages and a knight was chasing it around trying to kill it thus causing dragon myths at the time. So they probably took every liberty they could to make it as dragon-like as possible.

Too bad they ripped the plot from the Season 3 Dracorex episode from an episode of the nineties' Land of the Lost. And story wise, the Helen Cutter "arc" made totally no sense. This show really needs better, more original and more consistent writing.

The Dracorex was originally in an episode where it ended up in the middle ages and a knight was chasing it around trying to kill it thus causing dragon myths at the time. So they probably took every liberty they could to make it as dragon-like as possible. There was an article in PT magazine, where the interviewee (one of the F/X people, I think) basically said that they 'monster-up' their subjects. This is pretty obvious from the first episode, when the gorgonopsid was absolutely huge (at best, they were the size of grizzlies--Inostrancevia had a 45cm skull). Not to say anything about the Smilodon. And the mosasaur... Fun Fact--even on the Primeval 'wiki' they exaggerate their sizes--Inostrancevia goes from a 45cm skull to a 75cm skull! So it is not surprising that they would 'enhance' a Dracorex to be more dragonish--they did it with every other creature they could.

^ I love the series, accuracy aside. I am thrilled to see a season 4. I hold out hope for more toys, particularly if they are like the ones they produced last time - Maybe even some obscure beasts like the boarcroc!

So, what's up with this show? Anybody see all of Season 4? Any good creatures? Any intriguing plot points which could make for great storytelling being blatantly ignored?
I noticed on Amazon Season 4 is already available on DVD and even Blu-Ray. Won't be long before I go for the latter.

Yeah, all shown on ITV here in the UK. Very good series, the best yet in my opinion. The creatures are: - Spinosaurus - Kaprosuchus - Aboreal Dinosaur (a made up dinosaur) - Therocephalian - Labyrinthodont - Hyaenodon - Terror Bird No future ones this time. And there are loads of interesting plot points, and they aren't being ignored, we've already discovered loads about who Matt is and why he's there.

Too bad about no future creatures, but I'll settle for these oldies. Thanks for the heads-up!
