Careful on the Avatar topic, folks, I remember a mod (wasn't he?) loosing it over this movie in my first week on these boards, just because I stated I wasn't impressed by it while his mind was literally blown away. That was really... weird... That wasn't one of the mods--it was a now-gone member who had a propensity toward...passionate responses. I tried to find an "understatement of the century" picture involving cats to reply to that, but I couldn't.

The passion he displayed towards Avatar bordered on insanity. Good riddance.

You have a nursery-school storyline with zero surprises and a bunch of generic characters who look all the same and the viewer is unable to recognize and zero winks to mature audiences and... A LOT OF 3D. Rather like the Clash of the Titans remake. Sadly Clash was post-converted to 3D. While the film was butchered in editing to rewrite the story, the fact that it was 3D had no real impact on its script.

3D would work rather well with JP4. Hope it's good 3D and not gimmicky. Good 3D: Avatar, Legend of the Guardian. Bad 3D: Piranhas 3D, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans Piranha 3D (and I imagine the forthcoming sequel Piranha 3DD) was at least supposed to be gimmicky - the whole point of the film was to be a throwback.

They can shoot it like Pirates 4 , where it's shot in 3D but you don't need the 3D to enjoy it. I'm going to see Pirates both ways I guess and then decide which is best. Those darn glasses don't fit over MY glasses very well. Mine either, but I was able to buy some good "clip on" 3D glasses off of eBay. Problem solved.

Really? The James Cameron movie? Even JP3 had more character development and plot than Avatar... Surely an awesome visual work, but behind that there was nothing but CelineDionesque insipidness and a plot that could have been written by a 13-year-old boy. If you refer to how good the CGI and 3D on Avatar was, I surely do agree, it was awesome and better than anything made before. But If you say Avatar was a good movie, I strongly disagree with all my heart. And it's another example on how less important the script is when the visuals are the main attraction. Well, guess what, I go to the movies mainly to be told exciting stories. I can enjoy watching pretty pictures for maybe 15 minutes, but I simply cannot stand 2 hours of pretty pictures with no content. That's interesting...I actually go to movies for the special effects, and the pretty pictures...when a movie has a budget of, I dunno, 200 $ million (mostly due to its proprietary special effects), it's quite surreal in that that you actually take in the essence of the movie (and its associated production value) for only about $12...It would be a waste to see a special effects heavy movie at your couch.... ...However, for the story content, I prefer watching the movie on my PC or TV... ...the Avatar is an okay movie (about 7.9/10), but the special effects bumps it up a notch (8.9/10)...its not a spectacular movie (at least in terms of its Pocahontas inspired story line) by any means, but it is an experience....

Pocahontas doesn't actually end quite as neatly as that of course, but that's beside the point.

No surprise, Pocahontas was the better film of the two.

Shot with arrows! Yo ;D
Did anyone see the South Park episode 'Dancing With Smurfs'? Skewered Fox News loon Glen Beck and Avatar in the same episode.

Pretty crappy episode, until the final gag is revealed and you know what it's all about. And boy, were they right about Avatar (two months in advance too)... I think we're getting off topic though.

What we already know from JP4: -First draft was about pteranodons invading an American city. It is also known a lot of new dinosaur species not seen in the movies before was thought to appear. -Second draft was about a mercenary hired to find lost Nedry's barbasol and then captured by some evil mad scientifics who forced him to train a bunch of Dinosaur-Sapiens (Deinonychus, T-Rex and Trike) who wore weapons ala DinoRiders. ------ ------ -Third draft was an unknown plot starring Ellie Sattler. They were thinking doing it on 3D. -The current draft is unknown, but includes some military men and is the first movie of a trilogy. They are probably still thinking on it as 3D. Well....

Recovery of the shaving cream can/embyo container is now part of the plot of the game, although it takes place immediately during and after the events of the first movie which, given the limited amount of time the embryos could survive in the can, makes much more sense.

Of all the characters from the franchise Lex is probably the least likely to ever want to have anything to do with dinosaurs again. Hell, she was hardly interested in dinosaurs anyway and her trip to Nublar scarred her for life. And after the recent IDW fiasco involving her and Tim, we really shouldn't want Lex anyway. Keira notwithstanding.

Hell, she was hardly interested in dinosaurs anyway and her trip to Nublar scarred her for life. And after the recent IDW fiasco involving her and Tim, we really shouldn't want Lex anyway. Keira notwithstanding. Yeah, but a strong and sexy heroine figure, ideally with an attractive romantic interest, will reach several other desirable demographics better than some young-male-skewing dino fest. This article (first part) explains why: www.cracked.com/article_19012_5-hollywood-secrets-that-explain-why-so-many-movies-suck.htmlThe rest of the article explains the rest of the reason JP4 will at best be a mild disappointment. With any luck, Ellie can show up as a strong mentor figure, to hit that sweet older-women demo as well. But lets be honest--if it says Jurassic Park, they've got the young males sewn up. And some older males, but not enough. All they needed was to say 'dinosaurs' to get that one. What they will want is a movie that makes (what they consider) average young women also want to go to the theatre, other than begrudgingly with someone else. And who are they? The people whose job it is to make money.
