I don't think this is fake. If those really are tailmarks, I don't really see what the big deal is. I mean, would it really be such a shock if dinosaurs were capable of touching their tails to the ground? The scarcity of tail impressions associated with fossilized trackways is proof in and of itself that dinosaurs did not regularly do this, so calm down guys. Obviously this area was the site of an important resource during the Jurassic, and if it were a watering hole, it makes sense to me that individual dinosaurs were maybe resting near the water's edge and allowing for their tails to leave impressions, or maybe it was behavioral, a sort of display, for them to drag their tails. We really don't know. But I certainly don't think dinosaurs walked with dragging tails because the mechanics of a suspended, level tail which would be used to balance the animal makes too much sense. Any respectable anatomist would confirm that. But that doesn't mean they couldn't touch their tails to the ground if they wanted to. It doesn't say what kind of dinosaur this is associated with, but if it were an ornithopod like camptosaurus, then simply rearing up to eat leaves off a tree may leave an impression of the tail if the animal tried to reach high enough.

Or even occasionally drag tail. Sorry for double post. Just pop up. Double posting, you should be burned at the stake! Rofl J/K ;D This is obviously...fake. At least someone else here is seeing through the lies. This new 'discovery' just happens to be in America, one of the most populated countries in the world with a huge budget, the largest in the world for palaeontology, and a 200-year history of expeditions. And suddenly they find rare drag marks in a state where hoaxes have been demonstrated, are common, and are sold on Ebay. Why America? Why now!? big coincidence You can all believe in 'blobby dinos' if you like - I will reserve judgement till some actual evidence comes in...

;D So you don't believe it. Marjorie Chan is a respected chair and professor of geology and geophysics at the University of Utah. She has also studied (2004) and compared certain feature in the rocks of Mars and Earth. And considered the possibility of life on Mars. Geologist Winston Seiler identified these tracks for his Masters Thesis. This study was published in the October issue of International Paleontology Journal Palaios. You can examine these footprints yourself since you don't trust people from Utah, or highly educated people. Call (435)688-3246 and you can get a permit for $7 (theres a 4 month wait) and see for yourself. How dare you question science. This is the United States of America the Greatest Country in the World, not China or the UK or something. We don't lie on this side of the ocean. J/K ;D

J/K ;D Because studying rocks on Mars means she knows all about dinosaurs, right? no wonder she thinks 'blobby dinos' are real if she believes in little green martians! This poor Masters student, comes across the carvings, probably tipped off by the hoaxers no doubt, and is duped straight away. Oh, and I'm sure the hoaxed carvings look just as crude in real life as they do in the photographs. They are modified potholes. Potholes! A claw carved here, a crude trail there. I don't need to fly half way across the world to realize that, but if you want to waste your time trying to verify fakes, you are welcome to. You think 'blobby dinos' are genuine fossils - prove it - show me some proof from the peer-reviewed paper. They just presumed they are real and described them. I want evidence! The onus is on you to back up your clams that they are real, not on me to prove they are fake! [being Piltdown is actually quite fun ;D Pilty, I hope you don't take my jesting seriously ;D]

;D Let's make one thing clear. Compared to Piltdown your Scientific knowledge doesn't even register. There is no way you could ever equal or surpass his judgement. He is after all the original. There will never be another . I know Piltdown and your no Piltdown. That's a Fact. J/K ;D

The amazing Piltdown - who believes every 'blobby dino' fossil on ebay is real. Personally, I like to question so called 'scientific knowledge' - not swallow it whole.

Perhaps you could demonstrate Piltdown's superior scientific knowledge? I thought not. ;D ;D I can not replicate Piltdown's Scientific Knowledge because I am not Piltdown! His knowledge is beyond question. You don't have to take my word for it. Just take the word of his legion of followers. Could so many be wrong? ;D

I have far more followers than Piltdown if only you had cared to look into it. Perhaps one day, you will join them and bow to my wisdom ;D Could so many be wrong?

And yes, so many followers can indeed be wrong; in fact, the more people involved, the more likely to be wrong they would be (misinformatoin breeds misinformation...)

/\ It is as logical as me being the devil. NOBODY believes that, so it must be true. If truth is proportional to number of believers, as Sbell thinks.
[Sorry Sbell, I can't stop! ;D]

Piltdown will answer all of your questions in good time. ;D

I look forward to Piltdown proving the 'blobby dinos' are real. good luck with that. And actually I do have psychic abilities, but that is a discussion for another time, and it is not how I know Piltdown's evidence will be insufficient. I have seen enough of these fake fossils by now - they may fool Piltdown, but not me. ;D
