I did email him and just got a reply- I guess it was the Kronosaurus that he had wondered about, thinking it must be too small to be 1/40- mine is about 9 inches or so in length so I think it is within the right length to be 1/40 Ah, that also makes sense. He was probably thinking of the massive Liop from WWD or the Carnegie one..it's a reasonable mistake..popular culture concepts is hard to ignore..it just sticks in the brain.

Hey, Malcolm, have you considered sculpting a dromaeosaur figure for this line? I think it'd be great to see a feathery theropod join the ranks

That's true - but at 1/15, Deinonychus would be around seven inches long. Or there's Utahraptor and Achillobator, both of which could be fourteen inches or more, depending on how reliable one considers some of the less substantiated length estimates to be.

Well yes, though Malcom's line is all in 1/40 ..so to fit in it would need to be quite small. Now if he did a larger sculpt that would sweet as well. A 1/15 Utahraptor would be really nice.

Huh. I could swear I saw a thread about a Dilophosaurus WIP in 1/15 scale. Is that a separate project entirely?

Yeah a 1/40 dromaeosaur would be pretty small- at that size more suited to the shapeways type piece- I have sculpted some 1/15 scale pieces, but there hasnt been any interest from anyone in my 1/15 pieces, so I probably wont do much more of those for now, will stick with the 1/40 stuff Plus a little blasphemy here- but I would rather sculpt a hawk or an owl, or other extant bird than to sculpt a feathered theropod-just my own tastes here- I prefer the larger theropods that havent been tarred and feathered yet in paleoart for the most part, although it is becoming more and more prevalent-please those of you that feel compelled to, do not respond with posts telling me and showing me why I should be putting protofeathers and such on a T.Rex or other large theropod, when those that want feathers sculpt their own pieces they can put them on their pieces-as for me I will stay old school and sculpt scales

I would love to see finished versions of your 1/15 pieces..I don't believe I've seen one of the newer ones yet all painted up. That could encourage more interest in them I bet.

Hey, no worries, that's not blasphemy, or even particularly "old-school". I've never heard a strong argument for feathery integument on big theropods, or primitive ones like Dilophosaurus. What would be blasphemy would be if you decided to sculpt, say a bald dromaeosaur, or something equally impossible. Though, in fairness, that is quite up to you as a sculptor Still, it's a bit disheartening for me, as I haven't really found a decent raptor figure or model. I quite liked the look of that 1/15 Dilophosaurus! I would love to see it or any of the other 1/15 pieces finished.

I would love to see it or any of the other 1/15 pieces finished. I think that there is a model done by 'Battlebrack' or some name similar that made a raptor model you might like- it was available through Shapeways- it is shown on this forum somewhere. The 1/15 Dilophosaurus is finished, just not molded- I have four 1/15 models that are finished clay sculpted patterns that are sitting on top of a dresser awaiting molding-one of them, the allosaurus on apato carcass has been started molding(started it but the two friends who ordered it backed off due to both losing their jobs and requesting out of the deal, which was fine with me, refunded their money, I understand hard time situations)- basically the way I work is I usually dont mold anything until someone wants one, and preorders it, then I use the funds from that first order to make the mold- I cannot afford to front the funds for the materials to mold a piece without knowing there is a buyer- sometimes I can do so for little 1/40 pieces, but not the large 1/15 pieces-

Just need to show updated pics and pricing along with it.
