I'm not sure yet what color scheme to use for this guy (or gal?) - usually I try to find out what environment the animal lived in, then try to find inspiration from animals that livetoday in similar situations and see what pattern or coloring they have- but not always, sometimes I just like to go at it in my own way off the cuff-

I think that would show off the detail and proportions very nicely, without being to much like your other dinosaurs

Whether you prefer to do this in a dramatic fashion (a la many spinosaur models) or a more subtle slightly darker or lighter shade ( my personal choice) is up to you, of course, but that's what I think is important.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with this one- I did a bit more to the feet- I noticed the little toes were missing on the feet- can't forget those-

I do like the color of Kaiyodo mini Acro..it would be nice to see it in a larger piece : Or the pattern from the Foulkes Acro : It was also a favorite of mine.. Famemaster is a good pice and the brownish red with black is interesting :

When I paint prehistoric models, a lot ofthe time I just google image search different modern reptiles or amphibians, birds, to get ideas- for example, the Ophthalmosaurus figure was painted based on white sided dolphins coloring, and the Tylo is being painted based on a monitor coloring/pattern- natural patterns and colors work best, or work well to improvise off of-

The white and black of the kaiyodo allo would be cool-- Maybe you could release it as a "special holiday edition" for only a couple weeks, and then go back to a normal type of color. (just throwing out an idea)

I like the idea of doing something similar to the Battat - not only will that snag you a market of "folks who want the battat and can't afford it" but green would be a good color for a floodplain animal - it could hide on the verdant edges and ambush prey.

Do you do multiple sketches of the model and color them in to see which scheme looks best first?

Nice Can't wait for the release date ;D I myself like spots or stripes ;D I'm sure what ever you finally decide would be cool... just don't make it to look like the Battat Acro ;D You want yours to be very different from any of the figures ;D

Do you do multiple sketches of the model and color them in to see which scheme looks best first? No, I don't do sketches of any kind, either before sculpting or painting these critters-I just find good references for both and go right to it I agree with you Boki, I don't really want to make these figures of mine look like any others-

I don't think a light blue would look the best, like on those lizards. Maybe a dark blue, almost navy? Maybe a reddish brown instead of blue altogether.

It looks challenging, but I like the green/blue idea, and it certainly wouldn't look out of place in the habitat.
