Don't be confused-that is not a photo of the finished piece-lol
Thanks CT- that is kind of in the ballpark of what I was thinking- but less blue on the head and more variation to the body color- I am molding this guy now- hope to have one to show soon-

Sorry for not posting a "message" along with the pic, but there was something I had to take care of.. I just did that within a few minutes of photoshop a few days ago, I didn't think it would look very good, but the color scheme I think turned out very cool I look forward to yours!

VERY cool I have to admit, it turned out better than I expected! And also, for no reason really, I really like the "bones" showing through the back of the right foot/toes-- Very realistic touch!

Magnificent! My order is already in!!
Finally an Acro. the RIGHT SIZE in 1:40 scale - no more juveniles (like Battat or that HORRID Safari version) It was as big as TRex, and it ought to be made as big as a TRex, DAMMIT!!

Thanks guys, I reallly like Acro after making this guy, in fact I just started an armature for a 1:20 scale version so I can have a bit more room to spread out in if you know what I mean-

So Tomhet ordered two of these Acros- I told him that I would make them differently posed-I found that this material I use to cast these figures gets real soft when heated and I can move around things like tails and move necks, etc. so I will make him two- one that is as is, and one that will be an alternate pose- moving the head to another position and the tail- I couldn't change the legs without removing the figure from its base, but am thinking I might try that as well- I will post photos of the two Acros for Tomhet here when they are finished to show the results-

Of course, one can always mess with perfection, but I don't think I'll adjust this one when I get it. The pose is just so perfect.. P.S. When you do mine Malcolm, could you possibly make the paint job similar to the Battat Acrocanthosaurus? Doesn't have to be anything fancy, I like your Iguana Stripes - I just don't think that I want the head to be blue .... The only proviso is that I don't want you to take any more time than usual - quick and done. You've done enough just creating this beauty! I can always touch it up if I want to..... P.S. I LIKE the fact that its mouth is closed. I realize that this also makes the moulding easier to do, but there simply aren't enough Theropods with closed mouths and those teeth overhanging the lower jaw. I happen to think that is just as cool looking as one with a gaping maw. The animal had its mouth CLOSED most of its life after all! Oh and just look at those nice muscular legs and WIDE ankles that were necessary to support this beast!! I think Safari should fire that Forrest Rodgers chick and hire you to do their future sculpts!!!

Malcolm - I don't think I can resist repeating what many of us have expressed many times already - we are so grateful that you have embarked on this labor of love - these figures are not only unique and (at least) on par with the commercially made ones, but it is going to give us so many dinos that the big companies will either not make or will botch (think: Safari theropods with bird legs, for example.)
When I get your Spinosaurus I will put my Safari Spino on ebay the same day!!!
We're not worthy!!

OK bucketfoot-- I can understand you not liking the thin carnegie dino legs-- But really, does that make you think forest rogers as an artist sucks? Or have we had a bad cup of coffee again... ;D

I agree with CT, I think Forest Rogers deserves our respect, she's a very nice person. I admire her work even if I think that some of the theropods (not all) have thin legs. And the Tylosaurus and the Ichthyosaurus are pieces of art for a commercial line. So no, I think she's doing just fine.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that Malcolm's work will surpass other lines in almost every aspect, it's unfair for the PVC replicas.
As for the Acros, I cannot wait to see them. Darn, we need a drooling smiley around here.

I wouldn't want this thread to turn into a rehashing of criticisms of the Carnegie line covered in the existing Carnegie theropds thin legs thread dealing with these issues-
I will take this opportunity to express my admiration of Forest Rogers sculpts- if there are any issues with the toys that come out(I have found issues with these toys myself, and have posted those on other occasions) , we should rest the blame at the feet of Carnegie/Safari, and not blame the sculptor who just follows the directions of their clients- I have been in that spot before myself and know the score-

Cool stuff. Do you think in the far future you would ever change the colors on any of your models? Like a...series two or something?

I'm not sure which one I prefer Malcolm... they both look really nice from diff perspectives..I'd have a hard time deciding how to display it..lol
Did you alter the pose by heating it up ?

Cool stuff. Do you think in the far future you would ever change the colors on any of your models? Like a...series two or something? I don't know about color..Malcolm would have to answer that himself..but it's a possibility when he does the alternate versions later on..he could try diff paint schemes.
