This one started out on a wrong size presumption, due to bad source material- I first sarted out at 8 inches in length-

Is the figure in the above photos at the wrongly scale then? If so, did you abort this model and produce a new armature?

Yes, this is the aborted version done at the wrong size- i guess i am trying to get these threads all caught up sincethe project started- I had gotten some questions from new members sort of confused as to what had been done up to now- so i thought i would get everything out of the original thread and get this list organized as to all of the pieces done thus far and their progress from the start of each-

I'm not really sure if that's the wrong sized one or not...but it looks a bit small compared to the base and wire...and he mentioned before how he wanted it to look diff from Safari's so.... I'm still not sure... ;D
It does look a bit diff than Safari's pose.. though I had thought this one was pretty much done.

Sorry for the confusion- just trying to get this whole project more organized for newer visitors- making threads for the sculpts that were already in progress before the whole new subforum, then new category thing happened- these ones were buried in the original thread and i just wanted to make them more accessible - easier to follow the progress of the whole project-

Yes I had noticed that some of the newer members were sort of left out- so I am pulling out the ones that are buried in the original thread- to sort of organize the whole project- even ones that are finished-

Just throws us " old guys " off a bit...lol
I'm surprised I remember so much about each piece's production...you know this line has grown into my main reason for coming here I think..heh

I am just finishing up this piece, working on it tonight a bit- mainly have to finish the inside of the mouth, putting in the teeth and such- just wanted to point out something I noticed as we all here seem to like to notice details- sort of ask anyone who has the Carnegie Tylo to look at theirs- when I was researching the mouth looking at a nice photo looking up into the mouth of a skeleton on the Oceans of Kansas site- I noticed that the little secondary teeth in the back of the upper roof of the mouth are in a 'vee' formation- and the tip of the vee would be pointing down into the throat with the wide part of the vee towards the front of the mouth- I think that from photos posted here that the Carnegie Tylo has this backwards- just an observation, also the lower jaw is too thin at the tip compared to the skeleton- I am making sure mine is correct-

You are correct..the Safari model is in a forward pointing " V " formation...

You know I saw the first two pics and I thought " it's a good active pose " then I got the the overhead shot and saw how nice and thick around it was..(gave a good sense of size) and was like " holy sh** ! " lol
What the size on this guy again..15" ? It looks freaking awesome !!!

Well it was 15 inches when it was a straight cut out piece of cardboard, with the sinewy pose it measures roughly 13 inches from the tip of the shout to the tip of the tail-
Yes my Tylosaur is a bit beefier than the Safari Tylo- different in other ways as wel-- I was sort of influenced early on by the photos that Crazycrowman had posted of the moniters back when we were discussing the spine ridge/sail/fin issue back on the original thread-the moniter skeleton he posted looked so much like the Tylosaurs as far as the spine/ribs relation-, I liked especially the way the back was on one of the moniters in one of the photos he posted- no ridge, just the back muscles coming together at the spine with that sort of depression at the spine leading into the tail ridge that turns into the tail fins- thought that was a cool look and probably as good a guess as any as to what these things looked like- its almost finished by the way- should be posting the 'finished' photos for critiquing soon-

The Carnegie model is scaled up to the size of the giant "Bunker" Tylosaurus, but it looks more like a general combination of all specimens, whereas this one looks to be based on that specimen in particular

Two things-- It looks as though the front limbs are a little longish; will they be very "meaty" and fleshy and more like fins, or will they be more like "fin-hands" like the carnegie? Why is the wire coming out of it's anus?!
