Thanks for the kind words- I had to delete Radman's and CT's kind complimentary posts in the availability thread, which I am tryingto keep clear of any posts other than the figures themselves to keep it easy for interested members to see what is released without having to wade through a bunch of other posts-thanks for the kind words though radman and CT-hope you don't mind my editing the oter thread-

I based the color scheme loosely on various water monitors- figuring that is basically what a tylo is-

Very nice! - the colour scheme is awesome, I especially like the bands on the tail.

I tend towards having bands on the tails of my figures probably too much- the dilo, rex, acro, and the tylo all have these bands on the tails- I tryto use real lizards and such as reference, and find that alot of them do have some kind of banding on the tails- I guess it is just one of the thingsthat I fall back on-as it is a nice dramatic way to finish up a critter-

;D Alright-- Just a quick question-- But are these water resistant by any means? I know one bigger amphibians (can't remember the name!) could survive quickly in water, and I'm just curious for this guy (if you're wondering why I asked-- check a few pages back in my diorama thread )

I know one bigger amphibians (can't remember the name!) could survive quickly in water, and I'm just curious for this guy (if you're wondering why I asked-- check a few pages back in my diorama thread ) I have not actually tested these figures out in water- I use lacquer, oil, and latex paints- all of which are water resistant- I think they would stand up to water long enough to get a photo like you have been doing- not garaunteeing anything though- submerge at your own risk-

To be sure, you could get a can of clear coat and spray it. Or, like some other members, just get the illusion of water without getting it wet.....
This is one paint job I would not re-do...

Very nice, even to the point of it clearly being based on the gigantic specimen nicknamed the "Bunker mosasaur".

This is a fantastic piece. The animal's in a very dynamic, fluid pose and that paint job is sublime. Great job Malcolm.

I am glad this piece seems so well recieved- I was sort of leery of the comparison with the Carnegie/ Safari Tylo- which is so popular with collectors-
This tylo has a unique back- every other replica I have seen has a sort of ridge along the back- I made this pieceto have a back like a monitor that CCM had posted a photo of back on the original thread- with the recessed crease or whatever you want to call it where the back muscles come together along the back spine- I thought this was a cool detail that I added to the sculpt-

I noticed that. Very cool. Reminds me of a water monitor.
