Yeah, the JP piece really should have been much better...I was all set to get one..but man did they blow it..Sideshow claimed there wasn't good reference material for that scene and all the shots were blurry....well just get other shots and references and use them...there are tons of images out there...Sideshow just got lazy this time. I or someone else could modify a couple Papo Raptors and a Horizon Vinyl JP Rex and come out 10 times better...even the bones on the base could be done easily enough. If they sold it for like 80.00 or so then I might have considered it worth it..but not for what they want...look at Dan's sig and compare the two pieces there.. one has movement and catches the eye, the other is static and just " there ".

We'll see. I'm expecting the JP Diorama pieces to arrive next Monday, and I'll have photos and a review for the blog. I'm sure I'll find things to gripe about, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it in person.

From what I can see, the Foulkes version is more impressive...

If the pose is the only problem than I love it. It really takes a lot to set me off of any dinosaur toy, ugly or not. Now if the detail is horrid, I'll agree. But I won't judge until I see Dan's pictures.

New photos added. The cameraman decided to use the flash, which shows colors nicely, but sadly blinds the viewer to the intricate details.

Mmmn, nice fat juicy Parasaurolophus Any ID on the other statues? I know that Carnotaurus is a Sideshow piece, I mean the other theropod and the Styracosaurus.

Thanks for the pics blade I really like it the only thing they should of done is added some ground or sand underneath the para's feet to look like it was standing on a beach.

Very cool, although sad to see the Parasaur getting so destroyed because it's ALWAYS been my favorite dinosaur. It also looks to be a juvenile. I think the way they made the Deinosuchus more of a bust makes sense because after all, it is bursting out of the water, with most of its body submerged. Not only would it have been massively more expensive if they had sculpted the whole thing out of the water, the whole diorama also wouldn't have made as much sense. I think we can assume these animals were ambush predators like modern gators, and the Para would not have been caught by surprise if it saw a 50 foot gator lying out of the water on the riverbank.

Don't tell me you've been missing out on all the commotion? I even held a poll for these statues over in Classifieds. But they're also on my site if you want to get a quick glimpse of them.

Also here are some more pics of the dinosauria sculpts. I love the bright colors in this model! Awesome! If this is the final product for the Carnotaurus the paint job is really bad. Trex looks ok I still really like it.

True...but I've seen other models showing the whole thing before...just scale it back and have the upper body coming out of the water in attack and the back and tail thrashing about...then you have the whole beast... Those are the same pics Dan posted JPRex ..I really hope the flash is what killed the washes and details on the Carno..it's my first piece and I hate for it to be my last.

Yes, the flash always ruins the details. Just look at the review pics I posted for the Rex v. Trike Diorama - the one using the flash makes the statue look like a completely different product. Trust me, when that Carnotaurus arrives, it is going to be mind-blowing.

I like the carnotaurus Now, if they were to make an acro or a kronosaur, oh my, my bank account would be screaming.... ;D (I don't hold hope that they can make a good spinosaurus, I'd bet it comes out as a baryonyx with a sail.... )

The demand for marine reptiles has been surprisingly strong, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Sideshow offer something along those lines in the future.

Gah, it isn't a whole body sculpture of the Deinosuchus? That ruins my chances of every getting it..
I'd like to see an Acrocanthosaurus bent down with its head lodged between the jaws of a massive marine reptile. Maybe it'd be too gory? And possibly too sad. ;D

Acrocanthosaurus is so awesome, why demeanish him like that?
