Ah ;D, at last, we come to the last period before the dinosaur’s dominance, the Triassic!
The First of the Mesozoic era, the Triassic is sandwiched between two major extinctions. Many species went extinct at the end of the Permian period.
The Permian-Triassic extinction opened up new ecological niche for groups of animals to evolve and begins diversifying.
Some families managed to survive the catastrophe although in much reduced number and diversity. Those that did manage to survive flourish.
Once familiar critters that were common during the Permian period were gone and were soon replaced by other, new and sometimes more bizarre ones.
The oceans were dominated by various marine reptile, ammonites, and fish. The largest ichthyosaur, Shunisaurus, made it’s appearance.
Pterosaurs also started their dominance of the skys.
The Triassic is when the first true dinosaurs evolved. The majority is still small in size, but some were starting to grow big… very big!
So, you guys ready for the final installment of the Before the Dinosaurs Trilogy? ;D It will be a while again before I try such time consuming project! ;D So hope yah all enjoy the show! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Introducing the Cast of Characters! ;D
The top predators: Postosuchus, Batractomus,Liliensternus, and Arizonasaurus with Paratyporax. ;D
The Postosuchus group
and the others
The prey:
Placerias ;D Cute group,yah?
Before they evolved into the mighty giant sauropods, the Prosauropods ( Plateosaurs)
I have more including the Safari ( hiding right now), Kaiyodo, etc. Just don't have the time to hunt them all down... maybe later on
Other critters:
Lystrosaurus, Rutiodon, Cynognathus, and Desmatosuchus, Diprodon, and Pythosaurs
Rulers of the seas: Marine reptiles and Co. ;D ;D
Shonisaurus, Mixosaurus, Nothosaurus, Henodus, and Tanystrpheus. ;D
and the other aquatic critters ;D
Various ammonites
The fishes ;D ( OK, this is substitution of species ;D I don't have other figures to use, but we all know some representative of these groups continued to thrive into the Triassic, right? )
The flying reptiles: Dimorphodons and Rhamphorhynchus (any other figures? )
I know, I don't have many of them ;D Maybe DeanM can add pictures of his Triassic pterosaurs? ;D)
And finally, some early dinosaurs ;D
Coming soon ( and yet to be seen): CollectA Herrerasaurus and Lufengosaurus ;D
There, another series finished! ;D ;D ;D ;D I have a few more figures that did not make it, some I can't find right now, others just so ugly ( JP Tanystrpheus )) it will ruin the picture ;D So, I am sure you will all add in figures from your collections that are not in mine ;D I really would love to see other figures, so please share your photos ;D
It maybe a while before I do another project like this, just don't have the time right now with my busy schedule
Till then, Cheers Dinofans! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Boki ;D
