Love the styraco They are small figures, right? I think I have the Achelo and he is soooo small! ;D Are you using acrylic paints?

Thanks boki! I def wanted to do something striking with the styrac. I'm very pleased with how he came out.
Yeah they are tiny, 1/72 scale.
I used Testors enamel paint. It doesnt come on too thick or solid so the little details in the sculpt are intensified when its applied.

Great color schemes and you definatly have a skilled hand but honestly I don't like the type of paint used at all They look ceramic now But hey if you're happy with them that's all that matters!

Yeah I was gonna mention that. Enamel paints have a gloss. i personally like the way it looks it adds to the "little piece of art" idea.

Gotta agree with Cordy on this - these have that straight-out-of the-kiln look and the paint looks kinda blebbed on rather than bringing out surface details. Resins look better with acrylic paint, IMO

Hmph. I thought this was a really cool look for them. I use this paint for all of my 3D models and it never seems to fail.

Testors has flat enamel, which has no shine, especially the military colors, and model masters. Also, you could spray them with a flat fixitive.

I agree it's too shiny, I like a matte finish.

Well, the important thing is that you like 'em. Shiny or not, I think that Styrac is killer!

Thanks Dan. I was planning out color schemes for that one for a loooong time before I came to a final decision. I dunno guys maybe its the flash on the camera or something. Yeah they have some gloss but its really not that glaring, not to me at least. The bit that is there I really like. I honestly didn't expect their slight shininess to be the main attraction when I put them up here for you all to see.

Glossy or not, those are really great paint schemes.

Please keep in mind, I am not commenting on the figures or their paint jobs at all, I am commenting on the idea that enamels have a slight sheen. If you use flat colors, the will not. As for the figures, as long as you are happy with them, that is the only thing that matters, remembering that their is no way to please everyone.

Yeah its crazy how small they are. Its a project when it comes to doing tiny details like the eyes, especially on animals with tiny eyes like these ceratopsians. The paint I used is Testors enamel just like my other two. I personally like the way it looks. Some people arent fans of the slight shine it leaves off though.

Yap, just like Kaiyodos! ;D Never tried Testor, but I take its thiner than acrylics. I use acrylics, just thin it down so it applies smooth. I guess for such small figures acrylics will be hard to use without being too thick. I like your Styraco paint, I may just try that on one of my figures ;D

I think that in a few months after you've gotten a little more painting experience, you'll redo these and they'll be awesome. They're not bad as they stand, but I think acrylics + inkwashes would give a nicer look.

Wow, the Achelou is adorable. It's hard to tell from the proportions, but did Krentz intend for this to be a juvenile?

Another ceramic figure eh griffin? ;D I like the color stripes on the horns You really think this one came out that shiny? Honestly I think the only one that looks like its really ceramic is the trike. Dan: I don't know, its the same size as the styrac so its big enough to be an adult. It certainly has a puppy dong look to it though. Thanks for the compliments.
