I know, it's still early, but I think the best figures have already been released.
I vote Giga! ;D

Papo Allosaurus. It is just leagues ahead of the others in almost every aspect. The only thing I don't like are the visible joints.

I'd say the Papo Allo..due to the detail and size...but Safari has really stepped up their game this year..the WS and Carnegie pieces all look beautiful and affordable...whereas the Allo was slightly high...but I'd pay it again. lol
Edit: Forgot about the Procon Bary..even though it's sitting right here..lol
It's why I ordered the Procon pieces in the first place..really love it...my only tiny complaint is the teeth..if Papo can mold tiny teeth that well then other companies should be able to do the same I think.

Some other figures that I think should be included in the list of 2008 best figures: [im g][/im g] Liopleuron and Pachyrhino from procon. What do you guys think? Are they in?

The WS Stego, Trike, and Raptor are already up there..though the Allo should be included in the whole bunch as well.
The Procon Lio is nice ( ihave one ) but so is the Safari Oviraptor...but really I guess the top ones are up there..the Papo Allo and Safari Giga/Diplo are prob going to be the main contenders...but honestly I see the Papo Allo as winning..I've never seen a dino replica sell out so fast...most online stores were out over the weekend after they arrived on Friday.

I donĀ“t like the eyes of the ceratopsid and its undetailed horns. The Liopleurodon is great. Procon is an irritating blend of high quality reconstructions and some really cheap stuff.

The Procon line is not exactly my favourite. I really don't understand all the hype over rare dinos, since most of the sculpts are awful The Liopleurodon is cool, but it isn't exactly accurate (maybe our dear Dr. Admin will shed more light on that). IMHO Carnegie/Safari and Papo are infinitely superior to Procon

For clarification, you don't understand hype over rare dinos or just the Procon ones ?

That Procon Liopleurodon sderiously looks like he's heading to the orthodontist. Look at those sad eyes. He'll never get another date until those braces come off....

Oh yeah. The thread....
The Papo Allosaurus has it all- color, detail, great head and a well balanced dynamic pose.

I'm surprised the Papo Allo isn't winning??? It seems I am not the only one doubtful of its merits ;D The days of Papo supremacy are over, I regret to say I voted for the Safari giganotosaurus Very nice pose and paint scheme, with no meretricious spikes, no chintzy crocodile tail impression; it's not a Godzillla poseur ;D

Procon seems to be the only one brave enough to tackle bizarre dinosaurs. Thumbs up to them for trying, maybe the other lines will follow. You have to admit that each new figures they put out looks better than the old ones. Except for that shunosaurus! What a mess! Looks like a turtle with is head/neck pulled out!

Of course Procons differences in quality keep me from dropping a lot of cash on a full set...on or two really nice ones is good with me.
