The Allosaurus is the right scale - It's based on Godzilla. I'm not keen on either The Parasaurolophus is still the only Schleich dino I really like.

I like the sculpts, but they're not quite all the way there. The Brachiosaur makes the old mistake of putting claws on all digits, and the high neck posture is debatable, but I can live with it. The Allosaurus has problems with the head which is really far too wide. The tail also seems to be on the short side for allosaurus. And there's no way it's correct to 1/40th scale. Look at the tiny little schleich dude around his ankle! I'm impressed just the same, they're a big improvement on the old Schleich figures and they have some nice detailing. The Allosaur is very, very reminiscent of Walking with Dinosaurs. Isn't that the common feeling about most of Schleich's dinos? Almost, but not quite? Although I am fond of the newer Parasaurolophus (and the now-extinct marine reptiles and Desmatosuchus). Maybe they should try to focus on hadrosaurus and non-dinos. Those seem to work better for them.

;D You can just cut off the unneccessary claws. I'm sure Piltdown would do it since I've seen his defeathered Therizinosaur.

Like their Albertosaurus and T rexes, then?

- they have come a long way. What, their rexes? No, they got worse. That big-headed biped rex was an improvement only in shape (vs the old kangaroo) but the figure was still an overpriced monstrosity.

I wasn't clear about that - it's just my way of complimenting the general improvements rather than mocking certain earlier works. you see ;D Although their T.rex was updated as recently as 2007 ... no comment there.

Understood--the brachiosaur is an improvement. But really, is it much better than the Bully brachiosaur that came out about 5 years ago?

hmm, that's really about the same, but the Bullyland looks like it was pretty good to begin with. I suppose the new Schleich option is a little more 'Jurassic Parky' -for anyone into that sort of thing.
