The Deluxe Rex and the big Display Rex are the best ones...the Series 1 Rex regular size is a pass or so I think.

lots of competition on the Allosaurus front this year. Left off the list: Wild Safari Allosaurus Schleich Replicasaurus Allosaurus The Papo Allo is probably the most impressive, but they're all winners.

I am in love with the new carnegie diplodocus! I just like it a lot for some weird reason.

Safari did it IMHO with the new Nesting Oviraptor. Followed closely behind by the Papo Allosaurus.

That Procon Liopleurodon sderiously looks like he's heading to the orthodontist. Look at those sad eyes. He'll never get another date until those braces come off.... "Lio needs braces"-"Dental plan"-"Lio needs braces"-"Dental plan"-"Lio needs braces"-"Dental plan"...And so on ;D Nice Simpson's referance. BTW I voted Giga.

Totally agree. For me its the shape of the head, and position of the teeth. Ick!

Its proportions are kind of odd. Its pose looks weird, but its head is straight out of Walking with Dinosaurs, so it's on my list and is my allosaurus of the year ;D

The Wild Safari allosaurus is nicely sculpted, but it is even more green than the catalogue shot indicates (if that were possible ) and is rather diminutive -- it's smaller than the velociraptor

The WS Allo is great, it's affordable, can be posed, re-painted and works wit h the new Diplo very well...and the Raptors...I'm not certain..but I think the Raptors can be done the same way..I just have to figure out which figure I have they are in scale with..to make a pack attack... ;D

Its proportions are kind of odd. Nothing is sacred here but yeah it's Schleich, so you sort of expect things to be a bit off. Their work gets better and better, but it's never perfect. Compared to the WS Allo, the feet and ankles are kinda big. Also, I hope the tail is just shortened by perspective... they did a T.rex with a ridiculously short tail a while back. As Blade noted, the snout isn't right. It's rather too short in my opinion. It reminded me of the Smithsonian's somewhat short headed Allosaurus, but on closer inspection, that skull's snout appears to be a sculpted reconstruction. A pity because I liked that look a lot better than more recent allosaur skulls. I'll probably get the Schleich just the same. It's close enough for me, certainly a lot closer than figures I've had in the past.

I might change my mind after seeing it in a review or some member pics..these are protos after all...and things change based on retailer opinion...so if someone else pointed it out they might change it.
I suppose I might be able to get it and re-scuplt the snout..but matching the colors would be a pain.. :/

Don't you like use a hair dryer to keep legs from bending in on dinosaurs over time?

The hair dryer method is a variation on the hot / cold method.. if a figure warps over time you can use the heat setting to heat it up til it's pliable and re-position it how you want ( that's how I re-posed all of my WS Allos ) then while still holding it in the desired position, cool it down either with the hairyer's air setting or dunk in cold water for few seconds. the plastic re-hardens in this position.
Now some really soft plastics will eventually go back to their old position..they just aren't made of stiff enough material in the first place...also if they get hot from sun or heating in the winter they can lose the posing then.

I like the sculpts, but they're not quite all the way there. The Brachiosaur makes the old mistake of putting claws on all digits, and the high neck posture is debatable, but I can live with it. The Allosaurus has problems with the head which is really far too wide. The tail also seems to be on the short side for allosaurus. And there's no way it's correct to 1/40th scale. Look at the tiny little schleich dude around his ankle! I'm impressed just the same, they're a big improvement on the old Schleich figures and they have some nice detailing. The Allosaur is very, very reminiscent of Walking with Dinosaurs.
