Interestingly, I don't think I have any of those--but I do have dozens of various fish from Japan. I should put them all up someday! Some can be found here: picasaweb.google.ca/HyenaSean/TobaAquarium#and here picasaweb.google.ca/HyenaSean/Colorata#(the Coloratas also include pictures of the original dino set) I still don't have my Yujins or Kaiyodos up at the site though. There are very few modern animals that either Yujin, Kaiyodo, or Colorata can't seem to pull off. And I think they should try all of them, just to be sure! I need a bowfin and paddlefish, consarn it.

At some point I'll do comparisons of the early and recent versions (tyrannosaurus, triceratops, dromaeosaur, spinosaur, etc.) One thing to not--I got the retired set without bases, which means some of them don't stand well. So I got out the Sculpy and my son and I made some (I have lots of Colorata acrylic rods). I think they turned out pretty well--the more creative ones are from my son, including the raptor's waterfall: At some point I'll do the paint touch ups. Maybe.

Wow postsaurischian, once again a seriously great collection you have. So far, I only have one Kaiyodo fish that doesn't belong to the Dinotales series: Kaiyodo Aquatales series 2 No. 018 Sailfish, Istiophorus platypterus. Neither rare nor expensive but simply my favourite extant fish. Here with (painted) Hans for scale reference.

Yeah - very beautiful one ;D BTW: The Ocean Sunfish (above) is a figure from the National Museum of Nature & Science in Tokyo.

Oh, and thanks for the hint with the sunfish. The Yujin fish are great, too. Thinking of that, I think I should search for the thread with Yujin insects here in the forum, I recall there was one. I have nearly all of the Insects of Japan figures.

Insects? haven't seen that thread yet. Phew - it's a hard job collecting all kinds of animals but they're all fascinating in a way! I didn't know where to put the Kaiyodo Otter, so this here seems to be the only place where I can show it since in German it's called Fisch Otter - watching out for more Kaiyodo & Yujin fish to come in this thread ....... Lutra lutra - Common Otter

Insects? haven't seen that thread yet. Phew - it's a hard job collecting all kinds of animals but they're all fascinating in a way! It seems I was mistaken, there isn't such a thread yet, I've only seen one started by Dan concerning an insect toy website. Well, I think I could just open an extant arthropods thread... I'm sure we will find quite some people to contribute photos.

See - I didn't even know that one existed. All I have are the Trex, Parasaurolophus, Spinosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, and Dimetrodon. I see there's a raptor now, too - is there a pterosaur also? And that's a very cool base - when I first looked at it (and even now that I'm still looking at it) it looks pretty official!

He did a pretty good job with it--he had the concept in his head, and just went for it. He tried to add some white sculpy to the water at the bottom to give a bit of a rapids effect, but they were too thick. Someday I might paint them on. And there is indeed a pterosaur (hey Dean, one more for your list ;D): The base is also Sculpy--I got them through Fran, but there were no bases. Same went for the Dilophosaurus, Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus It's not visible in the pictures, but the bases even have the footprints, just like the real Colorata bases. (plus one was made for the Allosaurus--my boy decided that it should have one too, even if it didn't need one and doesn't have a peg).

I forgot to mention the allosaurus, and I also have the stegosaurus too! I love the spinosaur's base.
Anybody have an extra velociraptor and pteranodon? ;D

Hmm, when I bought it just a few months ago (I think it was in december) it was not that hard to find. I bought it from an ebay shop named "King Crab Collectibles" but at that time several others (including at least 7toys7) had it and it was something like $6 with free international shipping. Maybe sometimes supplies are smaller than they look at first sight.

And there is indeed a pterosaur (hey Dean, one more for your list ;D): Thanks for posting the photo. I always like seeing pterosaurs!!! I bought one from UDF about 4 years ago now. I do miss that gentleman, he was a good source for Japanese figures. Never had any problems with him. It's a decent little figure but the vynil wings droop with age.

I see the need to buy more Yujin! The Largemouth Bass, Dory, and the stickleback are also very nice ones.
