A couple of Xtractaurs Pterosaurs - bought while I was travelling in the US for work back in Jan. Accurate, no not really but somewhat fun and funky. Fear the mecho-pterosaurs.... ;D There apparently is a Quetzal and a Tapajara also - so if anyone runs across those please give me a PM.

Went out and got the Wild Safari Brachiosaurus! Really cool figure. Tell me where boi! At a real store or online? A real store. Believe it or not those things still exist. Crazy I know. There is a toy store in the next town over from me, like a 5 minute drive from my house that sells educational toys and such. They carry carnegies, WS, papos and some smaller schliechs i think...I dunno its the one that produces the blue quadropedal spino. Anyway yeah I go there to get all my dino toys. The guy that runs the place is actually really cool and has sorta gotten into the habit of ordering the weird and lesser known ones, like the scuto and postosuchus, because he knows I stop in from time to time. I asked him if he had any of the other new ones but he said the Brach is the only one that came although he ordered all of them and would be getting each one as it becomes available to the store. Perhaps the lioplurodon was backed up or something who knows. Sometimes I also stop into craft stores and see what they have as well. The only dinosaur toy i have ever gotten through the internet was the free tenontosaurus from Dan. Other than that I actually get off my butt and hunt them down.

I do know, I get most of my carnegies from a real store Nice surreptitious jab at those of us who buy things online I'll have you know that most people only buy the new figures online because they are impatient and want them quickly, or they want a rare figure that can't be obtained at a retail store (For instance- There was no way I was walking into any store and buying my battat acrocanthosaurus, so I had to get it online).

Stab??? Don't take everything so defensively. or maybe your envious of my superior tracking and hunting skills! Its the thrill of the hunt people! If the thing is only obtainable in another country or it retired like 20 years ago and theres no chance that stores will carry it anymore (the store I go to for some reason still gets the green carnegie rex...i dunno) than i can understand buying it online. Especially if you really really really want it badly.
The biggest reason why I buy safaris and carnegies in person though is because not all paintjobs are created equal. Some are quite sloppy. I'm a little nit picky about this I suppose and like to be able to get the cleanest painted one possible. We all know carnegie's newer rex is notorious for having a messed up googly eyed warped face and sometimes doesn't even stand. Mine is fine. Eye to eye its nice and equal bilaterally. Its because I hand picked it out of like 4 models on the spot.

And some of us live 5 hours from stores (the one in our places of work notwithstanding). Shocking, I know, that a toy store, Walmart, TRU or Target isn't just down the street from every one of us. Neither is Japan from ten years ago, oddly enough.

Occasionally some safari and schleich make it into TRU and target (mostly schleich), and some wal marts carry procon dinos.

I would have thought that toy stores were an obvious place to buy toy dinosaurs Where else would they be found--museum gift shops? Because those are generally fewer and farther between (except for me--since my Centre has one!). And I know that Schleich, for example, is making inroads into TRU (hence the lack of creativity from them these days). And has already moved into Target (can't say about Walmart, but they're not in Canadian ones right now).

there is only one store in my area off the top of my head I can think of that sells dinosaur toys that are not chinasaurs, or Schleich Jr. it's stupid. also, this toy store is downtown (30min bus ride away) and closes early XD ALSO, this toy store doesn't really carry the new releases from safari/carnegie anymore it appears... they got the dilong in when it was released, and I know they had all the papo dinos, but this month I wanted the new lio and they didn't have it, so I had to pay double what I would have had to pay in person just to have the thing shipped to me. AUGH. when I grow up I'm opening my OWN toy store. also it will sell fossils and minerals, gundam models, movies, candy, and video games. and also I will obviously be a millionaire at this point so my store will basically just have whatever I want in it. <_<

Sepp: If you talk to someone who works there or better yet the manager, depending on how nice they are and if they know they will get sales from it, you can get them to order certain models for you. That's how I got the safari scuto.
The toy stores that carry safaris and carnegies are usually not chain toy stores like toysrus and such. You are more likely to find JP and Chap Mei there. I guess if you are lucky you can find a few stragglers but in my experience I have never seen any. For the museum lines the "mom and pop toys that stimulate learning yay!" stores are your most likely candidate. Only problem is they are not a sure chance wherever you go. There's one on Long Beach Island that has almost all the carnegies, even a good number of retired ones. If you look hard enough you can find them. Just keep your eyes open whenever you go new places. Its cool. Almost all of my dinosaurs has a neat little adventure story behind it.

Non-Schleich dinosaurs are hard to come by in the UK too, as I've said before.
By the way, got hold of the Favorite Collection Deinonychus, Allosaurus and Tyrannosaurus today. Plan on reviewing the Allosaurus soon. It's not as good as the Wild Safari version, alas. The best of the bunch is the Tyrannosaurus. The Deinonychus won't stand up without Blu-Tack - but at least it's feathered, I guess!
