That must be one heck of a cell phone, because this Alamo looks insane. The copious flora puts it way over the top.

Thanks guys! I'm going to try and take a nice picture of him tomorrow when its light and I'll share it with you. I'm really happy with him and he looks a lot more detailed in person than in these pics.
I really had fun with the base, I've never built one before and I really enjoyed it. So I'm building the little Edmonto a base too.
Thanks again, glad you liked him:)

What materials did you use to make the landscape on that? I'd like to do something similar for when I paint my triceratops.

Thanks guys! Here is a much better picture of him I like my dinosaurs in environments now, lol! Griffin, bases are really easy to make. The stuff I use can be ordered online or picked up at Michaels or another art/craft store. I use: Model Trees and bushes: These are from Canyon Creek Scenics (realistic, but more expensive) and Woodland Scenics. Any tree you like will do. Scenic Cement (Woodland Scenics) Super Glue (I got Gorilla) Air Dry Clay: Any brand is fine, I use La Doll Premier Acrylic Paint: whatever browns and earth tones you want to paint the base with Spray bottle (to spray the Scenic Cement) Rocks, dirt and sticks from your backyard Make the base out of the clay, shape it and size it to fit your scene. Figure out where you want the dinosaur and press him into the clay to create little footprints to mark his spot. Remove the dinosaur from the base (don't put him on the base until you finish it and its dry). Place your trees. Stick them into the base and form the clay up around the base of the trees to hold them. Leave the trees in the base to dry with it. Get some sticks that look like miniature dead trees. Cut them up to size and stick them in the base where you want them. Let them dry with the base and trees. Let the whole base dry for a few hours to harden. After it hardend, paint the base in browns and "earth" colors that will show through the dirt and on the sides of the base. Let it dry. Now spray the base with your Scenic Cement...which is kind of like sprayable glue. Them sprinkle your dirt and ground up leaves on the base to cover it like debris. Spray it again and put more, repeat until you have what you want then spray it one last time. Use the super glue to glue in rocks, deadfall (sticks) and the bushes or whatever else you want. I made the little mushrooms and fungi out of the same clay. Super glue the mushrooms to the ground and fungi on the tree trunk. Then paint them. Once everything is dry you may need to paint over some of the super glue as it will turn white. Then place your dinosaur, put super glue on his little feet and place him. Done!

Wow! That is one nicely painted sauropod! I'm really curios as to how you painted that intricate patterns on this figure ( also your others). What kind of paint to you use? It seems really transparent and thin. I would love to try your technique on some of my Shapeways figures Love the base, too. I have seen those diorama materials in craft stores. I may have to give it a try... one day ;D Hey, what's the status on that Olorotitan?

;D Thank you! I just use plain old acrylics, mostly Liquitex. You can thin the paint with water to make washes or paint it thick and opaque. I start with just blocking it in. You don't have to be exact at this stage, just put in your base tones. This sauropod looked like some weird rainbow with browns and ochres in his body. The secret to getting color to look nice is to vary the shades. When you are painting red, don't just paint red. Paint reds with darker purple reds, light orange reds and then put greens in the red to grey it out in spots. Then put little spots on top it that. The intricate patterns are really just using a small brush and not being exact. Don't make it neat, make the lines vary and then break the pattern with splotches. Its nice to make the pattern flow with the body. I almost treat pattern like water. It would flow down the neck and break over the shoulders, falling across the back and down the tail. Same with the pattern coming from the belly. To me it is more interesting than your run of the mill grey dinosaur with horizontal stripes. I have collected many bird encyclopedia's and books on animals. I love looking through them and combining different patterns together. The possibilities are endless and I could do it forever! I have the Edmonto half painted, but for the next ones that I get I will try and make a tutorial as I've gotten some emails asking me to show how to paint them digitally and practically so that might be fun. I'm glad you like it though, David makes the best dinosaurs and I really love painting them. Olorotitan is about to be ready for printing. I started a thread on my printable dinosaurs in the art section so I'm not on David's thread. I have a bunch that are nearing the finish and ready for print. I'll try and update it on my thread as I figure out what I'm doing and working around the headaches of Shapeways

Cool stuff Angie.
Can I use it for my PT ad? ALSO Can anyone ask Martin G if I can use photos of his paint jobs in the Ad as well? I would give him credit of course.

OH POOP. Looks like a Giga was cancelled. I fixed what they said was a problem (funny I'm holding three printed versions in my hands now) and reloaded it. I hope this does not mess up everyones orders!

Oh no! So far I have no notification that there is any problem with my ordered Giganotosaurus. But I chose Frosted Ultra Detail, I assume if they are wall thickness problems with other materials, it doesn't necessarily mean they are all going to be cancelled... if mine's going to be cancelled at least it's good to know it has already been fixed.
