Thanks for the pics, Chris! Looks like the new repainted brown fig also has a bit different mold for the head. Here are some things I've spotted that are a little different on the new repainted brown Rex:The back of the lower jaw is more streamline. -- Not as deep. The detailed line behind its eye is a different shape. The eyes also look to be a bit more rounded. The teeth are much sharper and nicer looking! Overall, it looks to have a bit better/sharper skin detailing. Although I like the color blends of the original green fig better, this new repainted fig def has some pluses! I'm getting all the new Papo Rexes. I have these two reserved. Just waiting for the two juveniles to ship altogether. ;D Also, the snout is longer, the top of the head up front more level and rectangular rather than round where the snout turns downward. Basically the head now actually resembles the skull outline of a TRex ....

I wasn't even going to get this Rex as I figured it was just a repaint myself..but I'm glad I did..so awesome ! ;D

Hehe, you got a point there, Simon (except for maybe the still too JPish eye pyramids!) And not to worry, Seijun. The new repaint will never replace my original! She will just make a nice camouflaged partner for my more colorful male. While the new Running Rex will make a great older, gnarly uncle who still insists on going out hunting on his own!

Wish the green Rex had looked more like it's prototype : I thoght that was a scetch The image appeared in their ads and catalog. It also looks as detailed as the new brown Rex sculpt. I wonder if they always had this piece and just found a new way to produce it maybe ?

I just got my new Papo green running rex and the brown sitting rex repaint. Both very nice! I know I'm the odd duck on this but I really like the new running rex! It almost looks like it's the "male" to the sitting "female." The build is more slender (gracile) and not as robust as the sitting one. Also more adornment in the head area, like a male would have over a female.
And the lower jaw looks really diseased! Love it! Like it got whacked by an anky or something. (Yeah, very V. rex from Kong). I really love it's little snaggle tooth from the lower jaw that slips in perfect in the upper palate when the mouth is closed.
I look at them this way. Are they "museum accurate?" No. Are they "museum quality?" Yes. Papo truly makes great dinosaur toys. If they did ever get a license with a museum for accuracy or just decided to go that route on their own... look out.
I also just finally got the 4 new Wild Safari's as well. Wonderful details on them! Man, Safari's game has truly been stepped up in the last few years!
When I was a kid in the 1970's, there was MPC and Marx dinosaurs that I played with. Then came Invicta when I became a tween. Then Safari's Carnegie collection when I was in my twenties. Nowadays, we have so many choices and companies making dinosaur toys and models, it's truly a golden age.

Woooow, the new brown Rex is surely a beauty! And to think i considered her "just" a repaint of the first Papo Rex... This year at Papo they truly surpassed themselves
