So, I am happy to say that the new PT issue is out (at least, it has reached my mail box, so it must be out now). Anyway, for those who don't yet have it, I can proudly point to the front page at the first headline--Largest T.rex discovered! This is referring to the skeleton of Scotty, who I mentioned earlier as have a femur that measure significantly larger than any known tyrannosaur, and possibly any carcharodontid. The article is not credited, but it was co-written by Phil Currie and Lara Shychoski (maybe others--there are a lot of people working on it). Anyway, there it is in writing--not a research paper, but written in the record that Scotty is a big, old T rex. There is also an ad for our upcoming conference. It will be discussing research on late Cretaceous terrestrial faunas (enthusiasts are welcome as well--still have to pay though). The website ( dinocountry.com/?s=263&p=263&0=263) is way too wordy, but does say more about it.

I was gonna post in classifieds, but I will do paints for back issues of PT as well as figures....

Wow! Big old trexes? Cool. You make it sound so...? Yes, he is old--immeasurably so. And apparently big. I am not a theropod guy, however, we had a researcher in here a couple days ago that took one look at Scotty's femur and was visibly surprised at the size of it--and this is a guy who should be used to big theropod bones. Amusingly, he figures he may also have found the metatarsal of a just-hatched rex, so we have a pretty good range of sizes/ages here (there are actually many different T rex individuals here, but none are nearly as complete as Scotty).

It sounds like you can just pay through paypal with a credit card (as opposed to setting up an account there). I don't know--I've had an account for several years now, and the small headaches are definitely outweighed by the benefits.

My copy arrived this week - nice surpise - always good to get mail that isn't a job rejection letter for a change Glad to see Scotty featured, but for the main cover headline, I was surprised that there were no pics of the fossil, or at least the prepared bits. Is there a reason for that?

Salvats? If they are the Salvats, they should be mine unless Randy found another source Oh well, I guess I can confirm once I see the issue.

the photos of salvats are taken on top of a wooden shelf. It better be nicer than my photos! It does not sound like mine at all... maybe he acquired a set for himself and just used his own photo perhaps? All I am saying is they better be NICER quality than mine, I worked so hard to get him new, better photos when he asked me

/\ they are not better than yours. I was originally going to say they were poorer than you photos, but didn't want to offend you in case they were yours! Now that I'm certain they are not, I can be honest. He should have used yours. He even says your photos are the best he has ever seen - no idea why he never used them.
