Yeah! Is anyone on the forum German? I know there are some other Europeans, but I can't remember specifically... I'm a German descendant (dads side) but also half dutch as my mother was born in Holland. ;D But do you live in Germany? That is what we need right now.

hey I have a question for any of you that have a copy of the most recent PT in hand- Mike Fredericks said to me in an email that he thinks he shows some of my old dinos in the new issue of PT. I am wondering if this is true. I would be curious to see what he has in there. Back in the late 80's my brother wanted me to work with him to put out dinosaurs after seeing what i did at work and the molding methods I was using. I made a few- he made quite a few- I wasn't really into the idea at the time- had other things on my mind and I was't happy with the quality if the dinos we were trying to put out, mine but especially his sculpts. I am thinking that these are the ones he is talking about- I hope not- I wouldn't want anyone to think that these have anything to do with what I am trying to do now with this line of Dino Forum dinosaurs-( hows that for a title for the toy line) I had emailed PT with an inquiry about rates for taking out an ad in PT and he had responded and mentioned the new issue having these old dinos of mine- Anyone know what he meant?

I got my answer from Mike Fredericks- he said that they have a collectors page and someone shows some of the dinos from the 'Mlodoch Castings' venture my brother and I had back in the 80's. I guess a collector says he liked them because there was more than one pose of the dinos. Sounds like ones my brother made- as he was taking the sculpts he did and repositioning them into different poses and making new molds on them - like what I am going to do with some of these sculpts I am doing now- he did some igaunodons, some triceratops, and some deinonychus this way. I had felt that his sculpts weren't up to par though, and had wished at the time that he would have taken more time with the sculpting of one pose- making it better-- instead of concentrating on making as many different poses as he could of each. I wasn't too happy with my sculpts that I did for this project either- this was in 88-89, and like i had said I wasn't too into the idea as at the time I was really into making these surrealistic 3D collages embedded in acrylic personal art pieces and really wasn't interested in making dinos- my brother and i had a falling out about this project- he resented that I didn't put in the effort to the dino project he felt I should-even though I had spent the time to teach him about making molds and what I had learned at work- and I sort of resented that he was taking over my garage studio with all of his molds and at the same time he was also using a lot of the casting material we went in on to purchase for the dino project to cast his own personal art. I learned from this project that it isn't a good idea to mix business with family. I also learned from this project that I didn't want to ever be involved in a project where I wasn't totallly happy with the product offered up for sale to collectors or anyone else for that matter-

/\ yes, they are on page 26. There are three photos, one shows Iguanodon (two poses), one shows a T. rex, and one shows a Triceratops, two poses. They don't look so bad, a little dated perhaps. Apparently from the collection of Jeff Quinn.

Yes I am going to take out an ad in the next issue of PT to promote my line of dinos- sort of a teaser type thing as there won't be a lot of them ready at that time- I need to give this enterprise a name of some sort and sort of like the name Dino Forum models, or just Forum models as there would be more than just Dinos available. But I am also working on some modern animals for the animal collector market as well so maybe I will just have to come up with a different all encompassing name- time to put on my thinking cap-- I will have to get the recent issue to see the photos of the Mlodoch Casting models featured in there- I did the T-Rex my brother did the others. I appreciate your kind words but I really don't feel they were up to what we could have been doing at the time.

By the way- I am going to refer collectors to the Dino Toy Forum in my ad - to give them a chance to get caught up on my project by reading the thread, and possibly having the chance to give input on further future sculpts. I figured you wouldn't mind me using the name in the ad to refer people to-

I looked those over quite a bit when I got my issue i nthe other day...and the it was actually the T-Rex I liked.. reminded me of the Richard Rush Rex in the Milwaukee Public Museum...which is oddly enough featured on pg 23 ...lol Great ! you got in touch with Mike, I told him a bit about the project and I invited him to check out the progress pics in the other thread.

^Yeah i used the Rush T-Rex maquette to measure and scale from- mine measured 24"in length, the Rush scale maquette measures just about three feet. I still have a few of those casts laying around somewhere- so they also feature the Rush T-Rex in that issue- that is funny. They did an article on Rush back in the early 90's- the only issue of PT that I still have. I will have to pick up a copy. For those interested, here are a few photos of that '88 T-Rex, only this cast is painted in a faux copper verdigris paint job.

I might have that issue...I think my first one was #13....never did get the back issues though..I know stupid me...lol I also have that DINOSAUR annual mag that came out twice I think...the first issue has the Rush dio in a lenticular for the whole cover..love it..and that tv program by the same name DINOSAUR! that featured the kid from the Wonder Years..had a lot of footage of it... I think it was the goriest dino image I had ever seen at the time really inspirational...caused a lot of chopped up figures and started me painting.. ;D I need to find me that Rex figure..if for nothing else than nostsalgia's sake...
