That's good,I will look forward to that. And out of curiosity, was the life size Icarosaurus model originally made for the Smithsonian?I think I saw a copy of the model displayed next to a cast of it's skeleton on display there (only with a different pattern and a darker tone of green). I am not sure who that model was originally made for- Rush sold many of these models to various institutions- that very well could have been a Rush model you saw at the SMithsonian, he made other models for them-, haven't seen any other Icarosaurus models besides the Rush one- he used to paint it with a dark green with brown spots on the 'wings' - It must have been, because that's what color it was. Can't wait to see what color patterns the Muraenosaurus,Parasaurolophus, ect. will be.

Yes, I am wondering what colors and patterns to use myself- I figure the Para would be fairly coloful as I think that the duckbills must have developed color as a display device since all of the head ornamentation tends to make me think that display was a part of their social vocabulary-
As for the Muraenosaurus, I am up in the air at this point as to what to do with it, looking towards nature for inspiration-

I did a Killer Whale Lio once... it looked pretty cool but a little far fetched I guess... since it's named for a Moray Eel.. look at those for a possibility... there are plenty bright and dull colored ones..all diff kinds actually. Let me know if want some examples. I saw a painted piece..I think it was by Dana Geraths maybe ? That was painted like a Blue Whale with the light from the surface of the water painted onto it's skin like it was cruising just below the surface...really impressive. Edit : It was Geraths : link with info on the piece : members.tripod.com/~megalania/geraths.htmlI have this same piece.. but mine came damaged with a fin broken off and I haven't tried fixing it yet...It also looks like she used an airbrush to paint it up..but I don't have one of those either.. ;D I figure a Para's head would be the most brightly colored part and maybe back area would have some kind of pattern....past that prob not much... I did my tamiya Para female and juvenile based partly on Dinamations's Para and part on a deer's color... my juvi had large white, rimmed spots but in the adult they were a lot smaller almost gone showing a growth pattern. If you have an a copy or can find one of the Zoobooks Dinosaur issues it has a nice foldout showing several diff hadrosaurs in various colors I really like.

I think the muraenosaurus would look GREAT with an adult tiger sharks' color scheme:

In the water they look very blue and almost calming....lol....out of the water though they are mostly a brown-ish light grey color with the darker stripes. But if painted like it was under water I would def buy that...kinda like the Lio pic by Dana Geraths I tried posting.. it's in the link though.

I finally had a chance to read through the original threads concerning the announcement of this line and saw the lists of planned animals.I have to say I hope that they are still down the pipeline.Should you do Quetzalcoatlus,I would be perfectly happy with it posed as if in mid flight.(I just don't agree with the idea of it standing in a stork-like pose.I lean more towards a quadrupedal stance while on the ground.)

Man that is a lot of thread to go through isn't it- wading through all of the turtle, lizard, eel, bird talk etc.- Yes those lists are still valid- I have tweaked them as I have gone along, there have been critters that have come up that weren't on the original lists that I just wanted to do- I will do a Quetzal down the line- I guess I never really got that 'stork like pose' either it would be flying or on the ground like the toy you pictured-

I'm also glad to read that those "it's been done before" arguments concerning potential future subjects for modelling mean nothing! (No Tyrannosaurus or Triceratops? What would be the point of a self imposed ban on any particular animal?)

Lol... I think I just posted something like that in regard to your mention of Diplo in the Supersaurus thread...heh... but it's my personnal view... I wouldn't mind another Diplo..just after I have others I want.... ;D That does remind me...I expected to see progress on some kind of Ceratopsian by now... maybe Torosaurus... don't think it's been done right yet...though I love the Dino-Riders version...

The Shieldmaster... I would def want the shield raised off the back in an attack posture as one idea...maybe a another ceratop with it's head raised bellowing would be good to...the best use I've seen of this pose is in Krentz's sculpt of " Buffalo Bill " I think. The Safari T-Rex Named SUE one would have been excellent if it had been done in full 1/40... I also would mind some kind of sleeping or resting ceratopsian like this :

I like the quadrupedal posture of the Quetzal in the pic above(and I have that figure now!)
I think that's what people meant by a "stork" posture, maybe I'm wrong - I certainly want a quadrupedal ground-based one at some point.

Yes, that would be a cool pose for a pterosaur- I will cetainly do a Quetzal in that pose as that was a much requested item early on the project-
