Just to change the subject a bit and although not related to this scale figure line- just wanted to say that I took the Velociraptor head that I had started year ago and added a full body armature to him- will be making a full size complete Velociraptor on top of everything else i am doing- it will be just a sort of side side side project- when i have time to push clay on him- also started a full size Compy- I have one of the Saurian Studios full size Compys and always wantedto make one- also an Archeoptrix- sorry for the spelling- i guess i am tired-

What do you think the ballpark price might be on a 1/1 Velociraptor ? I love Compies too.. but I sort of prefer the JP versions...lol Back before I knew of them in the films though I wanted that Saurian Studios model... that company had some great pieces all in all...

I am not sure what I would charge for the life size Velociraptor- it will be a resin/fiberglass cast- its just a bit over twice the size of the supersaurus sculpt- so when i think of it in those terms it isn't THAT big really(it measures 6'-9" in length) - mostly tail length really and the body isn't real bulky or the head either- I want to make it real affordable for collectors who just could never afford some of the ones that are out there- probably will do it old school- no feathers- we shall see-

That would work for me...I've been looking around for really nice, affordable and weatherproof.. ... pieces I could use outdoors around my gardens. Josh was planning on doing some Compies, JP style I was hoping to use as well... a nice larger Dino would fit in with those easily I bet.. ;D What's your pose looking like ? Standing, running, perching ( pretty popular ), if the mold could be altered or the base sculpt you might be able to turn out packs for those that want them.

Yes, I do plan on making a small pack of these Velociraptors full size- probably three of them-- one of them will be smaller than the rest-for visual variety's sake- a juvenile one- they will be running- on the hunt

Dinonikes, maybe as another side-project or something, I think if you made this, you could make $1000's selling these to members of the JP community if they were done well..

That one, the LW Trike, and CE Ankylosaur.... ;D I did ask once about JP figures but didn't get a response...perhaps he thought I was joking...lol There are members on JPT that do really nice sculpts..but they don't seem to know how to cast anything... I sent that one member a link to Dinonikes casting tutorial though.

That is one weird looking toy- can't really see it that well in the posted photo- is that some kind of Trike head?
As far as making JP figures- i have no problem with making them in theory- I could probably make some of the best replicas of that stuff you have seen-lol- just a little bragging there- i would worry about stepping on franchising rights- i have known artists that have gotten into a LOT of trouble making unauthorized replicas of movie and television memorabilia- franchise merchandise- I know Josh is into this realm pretty heavy and have been to JPToy forum and have seen others doing it- I don't know- I wonder if it would be worth it in the long run-
I am working on a quote for a museum project at work- can't say much about it, but if we were to get the project, I could have the chance to make a fairly large diorama showing a late Cretaceous environment with dinos, turtles, snakes and all sorts of flora and fauna of the period- would be very cool-keeping my fingers crossed on that one-

As long as you don't market it as official you should get in no trouble. There would be some serious money to be made there, especially if you could make them poseable. It is a mix of a rex, trike, and raptor.

Well, I could certainly make this piece-i make all kinds of repros of historic artifacts at work- everything from paleo tools to Civil War weapons- whatever is needed for the project I am working on so a toy shouldn't be too hard- looks to be made of hard plastic-- I would need to get a lot of photos and measurements- is this a rare piece or something? The best way to recreate it would be to have one on hand- Forgive my ignorance,lol- I have absolutely no knowledge of the JP merchandise world- other than having seen the first movie and parts of the other two on television JP has escaped my radar- not saying I am going to make it,certainly have enough on my plate right now-lol- just hashing it in my head-
I saw n the JPToys forum this guy dinosculptor- he had a lot of sculpts of JP dinos but nothing shown as finished- don't want to get to that situation where there are too many things going at once- nothing getting done- I sometimes feel like one of those plate spinning acts that used to be on Bozo's Circus or the Ed Sullivan show when i was a kid- running from plate to plate keeping them all spinning at once not letting any fall -while that crazy music played- what was the name of that song?

That bit of bragging might get you into trouble with us JP fans bro...we'll want proof ten times over...lol Figures and or 1/1 would prob sell pretty well Josh is doing good with it...from what I hear...but if you can top his..heh...don't tease me like that.. ;D Dinosculptor aka Gavin is the owner of Myjurassicpark.com .... I highly doubt you will get to his stage...he has a lot of people who have ordered things and not got them and I believe was sued once...due to not delivering paid for items. Really he does some nice pieces...but even if he does get himself turned around as I've talked to him and he's trying.. I don't know if I would take the chance on ordering from him. As far as in trouble with copyrights...I don't think you would have a problem really.... many sculptors have released the odd JP piece over the years...so long as you don't claim it's official, mention Universal or Amblin , Hasbro for the toys, you should be fine.. I think when I looked it up awhile back it was a 10% difference...which anything copied from something else isn't going to be exactly the same no matter how hard you try...so really.. if you could do figures , busts or whatever... I say more power to you and I'll get behind it for certain. Maybe we should send you some dvds of the movies..there are some great 360 turntables on them of the animals, size charts, ect.. besides the films... ;D

That's what the " lol " was for...just kidding with you myself... Any interest you want to put toward a JP project will be appreciated for sure. ;D I'm open to giving him a chance.. but my disposeable income is limited so I can't the first to take a chance on him...that's all...and I've posted on his forum as well asking about finished or even casted pieces..just not received much of a reply is all. I've had plenty of customer experiance on eBay and locally....I can get mad and raise my blod pressure or laugh...so I " LOL " a lot....heh heh You mean Roostercat ? Yeah it's almost freaky how he works...I've seen pieces he's done that looks like csats of Stan's origs.. heh... I was told he was able to lay hands on an 8 foot JP Rex from about the waist up that plans on casting and re-working, selling it as a kit...I told him I might be interested..a kit..maybe I could afford it... ;D lol

Yeah it's almost freaky how he works...I've seen pieces he's done that looks like csats of Stan's origs.. heh...
