Hey, boki, do you think it´s right demotivating a new sauropod fan this quickly? ;D It´s like wanting to learn guitar and then having to hear the current TOOL record. I put my guitar in the cupboard first ;D Hey, sauropodlet: Well, the Invicta Apato and the Battat Diplo definitely ain´t the worst sauropods to be the first in a collection. I recomment you collect the Invicta ones, first the unpainted ones, they are cheaper. You should also own both the old (giant, bulky, blue) Schleich Apatosaurus and the new one, being released in September and even a big bigger. Although they´re both not correct scientifically, they are definitely huge dinosaurs to hold on to ;-) I love BIG sauropod figures, so I also suggest the Carnegie Diplo and Brachio:

I put my guitar in the cupboard first ;D It's a valid concern, but to be honest, the only thing I found daunting about Boki's initial post was the fact that there's very little way to know what's what (beyond some obvious classics like the Invictas and the Schleichs). It's hard to do an ebay search for "third one from the left"... ;D Your suggestions were all very good ones. I'm going to order a bunch of figures later in the week and the Schleichs and Carnegies you mentioned are high on the list. So are you a Libra, or are you another friend of Marc Fields?

They have some really cool ones, my favorite is the Diplo 2008 and amarga ;D Like Libra said, the unpainted Invictas are cool, in fact if you like, I have two for you ;D A diplo and a cetio ;D The Saltasaurs are also a nice group. Both Safari and Schleich have them in their line. For the weird and odd sauropods, there is always CollectA/Procon. Their offerings are dizzying ;D Oh, a nd don't forget about the Battat Amarga, her majesty Battat Diplo needs her ladies-in -waiting by her side ;D If you search on ebay, do the brand/company line search. Or look under dinosaur toys. Good luck! I promise I will send yah those two figures if you like. Here are the complete Invictas: and TS toys diplo. The TS Toys line is also known as the unofficial WWD figures ;D and the SEGA ones. There is also a Brachi and Siesmo, both I don't have...yet ;D

The Sega Dinosaur King Amargasaurus? I have one on eBay right now アマルガサウルス Thanks! I've also successfully figured out Diplodocus and Brontosaurus; Brachiosaurus, Seismosaurus, Apatosaurus, and a few others are a work in progress... The Japanese seem to have a special love of Amargasaurus--there are numerous versions available, or they will be until I buy them.

I would STRONGLY recommend getting a styrene Tamiya Brachiosaurus kit - you can choose to lower the angle of the neck with putty as I did - or not. But it will fit in perfectly with your PVC line, plus be slightly larger and 100% more detailed than any of the aforementioned PVC dinos. Here is a photo of it among my 1:40 collection:

My favories are the Kinto Amargasaurus and the Battat Diplodocus I'd also suggest the WS Nigersaurus, it's very good.

That Tamiya Brachio looks awesome. A bit too steep in terms of pricing for me at the moment.
My personal favs would be the Carnegie Camarasaurus, Amargasaurus, and Diplodocus.
The Invicta Mamenchiasaurus is quite an elegant figure (always seems to attract attention from visitors).
I'm also a bit partial to the Tyco (dino riders/smithsonian) Diplodocus/Apatosaurus.

Just got my Safari Amargasaurus. Much smaller than I expected, despite the same length as Nigersaurus. The Niger is much bulkier. Is the Amaragasaur at all close to scale with the other safari/carnegie Sauropods?

Just an update...
Thus far in my Sauropod collection
Sega DinoKing Amargasaurus--adorable! I wish there were more eye-searingly colored dinosaurs out there.
Carnegie Diplo 2--d**n that's an amazing figure! Whoever said it went really well with the Battat was right...
Carnegie Mamenchi almost equally cool. Great!
Carnegie Camasaurus-- cool, too bad the nimrod who mailed it to me used NO packing material and it has enough paint rubs that it needs to be returned
Procon big Agustinia-- Wow. Just wow. Edges out the Carnegie diplo by a slight margin (in my opinion, which is of course subjective
Wild safari baby apato and brach--ADORABLE!
Kinto FC Apato--nice, but overpriced for the size
I've also picked up a few nice hadrosaurs, of which the new Schleich para is my favorite, with the Papo a strong second (too muscle-y?)
Thanks again for all of the great suggestions. There's a freaking crate coming from DinoFarm next week, so I'll have a few more comments then

I think DinoFarm is a little on the pricey side, does anyone know?
And why does that Battat Diplo look so much different from mine? The head and neck angle make it look almost like a separate version.

I think DinoFarm is a little on the pricey side, does anyone know? Compared to Safari's Shopatron or to Link & Pin (33.99)? No. Compared to TGFToys or Healthstones (27.99)? Yes. They fall pretty much in the middle.

Safari's Shopatron is basically standard retail price, isn't it? I think anything above that is flat out ridiculous.
By the way, what's that dromaeosaur on the bottom shelf among the Battats?

Fer realz? That is one slick Utahraptor, then. Can't wait 'till they get here!
So is Carnegie's Amargasaurus pretty much considered the best version out there? I was wondering if the Kinto came close, because I can get those from PaleoClones.

I think DinoFarm is a little on the pricey side, does anyone know? After way too many hours trying to find best prices, I bought a bunch of figures from other vendors, and all I can say is this. As long as DinoFarm cares enough to isolate figures from one another so they don't trade paint, they're a serious cut above about a third of the outfits I've gotten stuff from. Way too much aggravation results from opening a box and seeing that everything you ordered has been ruined by some idiot in the shipping department who just doesn't care. I'm giving the one outfit I ordered a hundred bucks worth of figures from who shipped it all in a heap, unpadded, in a box too small for the Bullyland Brach by a couple inches until Wednesday to get me replacements before I tell you all who they are (they swear that's "against their policies"). I've definitely had mixed experiences--Healthstones' and TGF are awesome. Sorry to be a negative Nelly; from my other collecting hobby I'm used to dealing with Japanese and with a tiny, insular collector community stateside who simply wouldn't sell you a flawed figure without minutely describing what was wrong with it and who always bubblewrap the hell out of everything.

Another Sauropod fan checking in. I had started my own thread about the best Brachiosaurus before I saw this one. I got a lot of ideas from Boki's photos. Thanks for posting them.
The Tamiya kit looks sweet. I suppose that comes unassembled and unpainted?
