Just got my Safari Amargasaurus. Much smaller than I expected, despite the same length as Nigersaurus. The Niger is much bulkier. Is the Amaragasaur at all close to scale with the other safari/carnegie Sauropods? The wild safari Niger is 1/30th scale whereas the Carnegie Amarga is the standard 1/40th. I think the Collecta Niger is 1/20th? Correct me if I am wrong. But I am pretty sure the Amarga is in scale with the other Carnegie guys. I had the same reaction and had to bust out the old trusty measuring tape and math skills.

Another Sauropod fan checking in. I had started my own thread about the best Brachiosaurus before I saw this one. I got a lot of ideas from Boki's photos. Thanks for posting them. The Tamiya kit looks sweet. I suppose that comes unassembled and unpainted? Yes, the Tamiya comes unassembled and unpainted. It comes with a landscabe base, a baby brachio, an in scale archeopteryx, and a 1/35 scale adventure dude, to show scale, similar to Hans from schleich. I highly recommend it. Also, the instructions give the option of striding, or standing, and open or closed mouth.

The Carnegie fig is 10 inches stretched out, so the scale comes in at 1/46.8, or roughly 1/47 scale. Closer to the invicta scale than anything. The length of a niger is given at 49 feet. The figure stretches out to 11 inches that gives it a scale of 1/53 for the carnegie, nowhere near close to standard 1/40, or 1/30. This would supposedly put the WS nigersaurus in scale with the Kinto favorite sauropods, and I do not think that is right. Now, many companies skimp on neck and tail lengths for these toys, tail especially. That will throw off the scale.

I was basing it off of a 33 feet total length.

Coolest Amargo pic ever.

Yes, that would work. For the niger, to be i/40 for the lenghth given, the toy would have to be 15 inches long. A full 4 extra inches, probably in the neck and tail.
The niger would have to be 20 inches long to be in 1/30 scale, or about the size of the Procon one.

One JUST ended on eBay... It's really worth getting one. Check Amazon; that's where I got mine, albeit, I think, from TGF or maybe Healthstones? Dinofarm said their entire restock should be back as of this week, along with all the new models.
I ADORE that toy.

I just thought it would be fun to do a follow-up to this thread. Keeping in mind that when I started the thread, I only owned a Battat Diplodocus and an Invicta Apatosaurus, I've been very, very busy... I desperately need a new digital camera and a new shelving unit. Here's a wall unit I picked up at a garage sale a few weeks ago (looks like it was made to display sauropods): Here's the remaining sauropod collection (yes, the Safari Mamenchisaurus has a head, sorry), minus the Marxes and other vintage stuff like Kleinwelka, Marolin, and Marx... :

I like the death defying schleich guy, I wouldn't be so brave to lay down in front of a brachi!

Nice, though it looks like you still have at least an Invicta Brachi to acquire

O boy, am I envious of this collection! I might have to come over and adopt a few!
Could you tell us what the brown figure on the right top shelf is, with the Schleich guy? I'm thinking a Brachiosaurus? And the striped one between the BMNH and the Invicta in the wall unit?

Wow, you must have done nothing else but collecting sauropods during the last six week. Very, very nice, I´m envious to be honest. To compensate this, I do a little bit of nitpicking ;D: The Bullyland Plateosaurus are not sauropods, but prosauropods, so they don´t count ;D
