I think Safari still has an excellent variety for the coming year.

Safari did not actually ask Link and Pin to post those photos. They chose to break the embargo, despite explicit instructions to wait. These are the kinds of stunts that may prevent Safari from trusting retailers with "preview" media in the future. True, indeed. But consider this.... If Safari Ltd. wishes to implement a fair punishment, they should exclude only L&P from future "previews." But I would predict that would be shooting themselves in the feet because such a dealer orders and sells a lot of their product. I guess. If Safari experiences a lot of pre-orders now, for their 2010 prehistorics, they may find all of what is happening as extremely positive. Loren

Loren Link And Pin has a history of announcing figures that never reach fruitation. Besides the Sea Monsters there were to be other X-Masterpiece figures like the Albertosaurus. Also they advertised Kinto-Favorite figures that were never made etc.

That Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus are simply...amazing. How big are they? The sizes are listed on Link and Pin. They are WS, so their sizes are smaller, not 1/40. The Apato is listed at 13" and the Brachi at 14". I really wish Safari would do a Carnegie update with this Apato design at a full 1/40! The ol' green guy has been way past retirement for some time now!

wow I'm really glad they're finally releasing that brachiosaurus! the coelacanth is... creepy X3 but it is amazing. I love the kentrosaurus!! the rhamphorynchus is a welcome change c: the apatosaurus is now on my most desired toy list. I LOVE it. the liopleurodon is amazing as well, I love the correct skull <3 I'm not really impressed with the mosasaurus, honestly, I don't like the paint XD (but I know a certain someone who can help me in that situation!) the prehisoric sea beastie toob is going to be awesome to have and I can't wait, but I am a tad skeptical of the rumoured amount of detail and high quality. I notice that almost all promo pictures of all toys are *way* better quality and do more justice to the figure than it has once it's in your hands :/ still gonna get it though I'm not very enthusiastic about the fossil toob. it's a very unique idea and I can't blame them for that! but it's not something I'm interested in, personally. yep. tl;dr: I'm getting all of them, except the fossil toob most likely.

So Adam you really helped design that Liopleurodon? That's awesome if you did!

Sepp, I'm with you! I really like this Apato! I would love it more if it were 1/40, but love the new look just the same! ;D Did anyone notice it's feet? I think they finally got them right this time! Looks like there are only inside thumb claws on half-moon shaped front feet and just the inside claws on the back!

They finally look proper this time from what I can tell from the images.

I dunno, the head looks kind of thin to be that mosasaur species and the fins look a little too close together. That last skull though does look a lot like it

The Tylosaurus is great, but could they have picked a plainer paint scheme?

It's a Mosasaurus.

Mosasaurus, right. Thanks Tomhet. Either way, it couldn't hurt to throw in another color. Its beautiful sculpt, for me, is being brought down by the single color.

But, isn't this the same thing as the monochromatic invictas we so highly prize? I know, not everyone is wanting to paint on what may well become a highly collectable item, but taking them as they are, they seem very invicta-ish to me. Better a conservative paint, than an utterly wild one, if you are disinclined to tamper with it.....

Better a conservative paint, than an utterly wild one, if you are disinclined to tamper with it..... True, but remember that invicta is a very old line. It isn't the colors that make the line so attractive, but the classic appeal, nice detail, and possibly the surprising accuracy (excluding posture). Now Safari really has no excuse. We'd expect at least a unique color scheme. Yes, its still a nice figure, but wouldn't it make it all the better if it had a few patterns or at least a mixture of other colors? Then again, the colors may change. That or the image could simply be masking another color's effect. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Either way, the simple color is in no way going to keep me from acquiring this guy.

So Adam you really helped design that Liopleurodon? That's awesome if you did! Yep, I helped on the anatomy side of things. There were several parameters put in place though, so I didn't have any say on the pose or color for example.

Liopleurodon (designed under the direction of Dr. Adam Stuart Smith) +++ I duly noted Dr. Adam Stuart Smith as being consulted regarding the design of the Liopleurodon, when I blogged about it, as I wish proper credit was given to each specific individual who assists in the creation of such replicas. On another matter entirely, not involving Dr. Smith.... With reference to the alleged color scheme (things can change, of course) of Safari's new Mosasaurus, who is to say that such a color design was not the one that existed. I see it shows a bit of a lighter tone or white on the underside of the head. I just went on two long whale watch trips last Saturday. Not surprisingly, most of the marine species (whales, dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, tuna, even birds) that I saw were rather monochromatic on the surface, but lighter colored below, just like this Mosasaurus. As many of you know, it is a frequent color display design for aquatic life. MosasaurusCheers, Loren Basking shark breaching.
