It should have been produced and painted to look like that from the start!

Sort of a rainbow paint job. Very well done especially the alterations!

Oh my. This is fantastic! My favorite custom of yours by far. The colors the dewlap, the crest, everything is awesome. Take note all you toy companies, THIS IS HOW A SPINOSAURUS IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK.

*PROPER*!!!
Outstanding detail work!! (Wish I could paint like that!!) It looks like you lengthened the lower jaw a tad, and added a little "curve" to the top jaw where the lower jaw teeth fit in (what is that thing called - a rosette?)
Pleased to make your acquaintance paleoferroequne - its nice to see that there are other "customizers" or "re-sculptors" out there!! Check out my garage kit gallery for examples of my work - nothing like that paint job of yours, but I think you'll find a few pieces in there of interest.
(Link is below in my signature line)
P.S. Do you have a website? Would love to see more of your outstanding work!

THIS IS HOW A SPINOSAURUS IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK. Well, it's not quite there in terms of scientific accuracy, but it's still much better than the original, and the paint job and dewlap are fantastic. It's a really great piece of work.

The paintjob on the sail and the dewlap are especially spot-on

Thanks for the compliments, no webpage but a link to some photos at Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/42365905@N06/I have already seen your website even before I found this one. You've got some fantastic conversion there ;D In fact it started me looking around for more web sites and to finally here. I started to get more dinosaur toys after a lull in my purchases.

Funny you should mention it, but I am actually going to revise the jaws somewhat. The lower jaw isn't shaped as good as I want and there are too many teeth on the Papo orginal so I will change that, so I will take the suggestions to heart.

Er, which I did. So sorry. I wasn't complaining! And quiet, Franchesca. Gah, I feel bad now. Didn't mean to sound critical. It'd be really, really difficult to turn the Papo monster into an 'accurate' Spinosaurus and paleoferroequine has got incredibly close, which is a fantastic achievement. He's also made an already nice-looking figure look astronomically better. The nerd in me just auto-reacted when Griffin said unequivocally that "this is how a Spinosaurus should look", but yeah...

I meant it with regards to flavor more than anything else. To be more specific: If the new Carnegie Spinosaurus (great figure with regards to accuracy but kinda eh with regards to color and imagination IMO) had the colors and extremadies like paleoferraquine put on his and retained its trueness to fossil evidence it would be amazing to me (If you haven't picked up on it yet I am a huge fan of Todd Marshall Spinosaurs)

Very impress and Marshall-esque. I like it!
Have you considered using a dark wash to really bring out the scales?

Very impress and Marshall-esque. I like it! Have you considered using a dark wash to really bring out the scales? Actually, there is a dark wash and dry brushing on it but the photo doesn't show it up well, the brown is already dark. Plus you have to be careful with a wash or it will muddy up everything. Just like the colours are off, the orange isn't that bright at all and the yellow on the head and elsewhere comes off green, it's not. I tried to tweak the colour with a photo program but it didn't work, the other colours got messed up.
