Quacks Like a Rhynchosaur A Chinasaur similar to this photo is named Captorhinus on a printed label, as faithfully reported by rsknol and franchesca. However, the legs configure a posture that is more semi-erect than sprawling, resembling Hyperodapedon. Highly knowledgeable collectors, including sbell and Darren Naish, have called it a rhynchosaur. I cry, “Uncle.” Let’s say that this is an example of incorrect identification by the manufacturer, like the Starlux Placochelys and the Battat CRES Snapping Turtle. Do you have a misidentified figure in your collection?

It may not be a repaint. It's not at all unusual for there to be paint variations in toys and figurines (especially small figures). I have several unofficial, distinct variations of the carnegie steg, tric, dometrodon, and a few other toys. Seems like the older a figure is, the more likely it is to have inconsistent colors. The grey you are seeing on the toes could be the plastic showing through. I have noticed carnegie uses a few different colors of plastic: black, grey, blue, and probably others I am about to find out if this figure is or is not a repaint. I had my aunt order it, and i should find out soon

Any idea, anyone?! I recognize these from the Yu-gi-oh TCG. They appeared in the anime as card monsters... can't remember the name, but maybe are made by the same company as the cards; EDIT: Check out this wikia pages for more info and card photos of these dinos. yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Sword_Arm_of_Dragonyugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Megazowler

It's pretty poor, but a lot of redlichiids have those genal spines and tapered pygidia. Although the cheirurine phacopid Ceraurus is a pretty good match too. www.trilobites.info/cheirurinaguide.htm

Gorgonopsid, the manufacturer of this rhynchosaur is unknown. The tail is stamped China. The Dinosaur Collector pictures a similar figure: www.dinosaurcollector.150m.com/carnian.htmlThis figure shows up infrequently on eBay in several color varieties in lots with dinosaurs. Some recasts show a loss of quality.

To find a rhynchosaur it is necessary to examine eBay lots until you spot one. Very tedious. Clawmark Toys sells a small Scaphonyx as part of the Dawn of the Dinosaurs figures: www.clawmarktoys.com/index.php?cPath=96&&page=2The set of dinosaurs in your photo was made by TS Toys. Dinosaur Farm used to sell them, but they are no longer available.

Libra: Those are Franklin Mint. The corythosaurus and sabertooth were quite well-done, wish I had them. There are pics of them in the Dinosaur Collectors Guide (book), but I can't find any pics online.
